Units (Work) without Resources

H
Hugh McLeay 👤 Member for 14 years 3 months

I've noticed that in both P6 and MSP, values for Units (Work) are generated by assigning a Resource.

It's also possible to it is possible to directly enter a value for Units (Work) without assigning a Resource.

The latter method seems to behave much better when extending/shortening planned durations.

Both methods contribute to the 'cumulative units' outputs that are possible with P6 and MSP.

Problem with Multiple Calendars and Float

R
Rob Lillico 👤 Member for 13 years 11 months

Study the following activity table and Gant chart, all the necessary information should be there. The calendar for activity A has continuous working days. The calendar for activities B and C is for a 10 days on 4 days off roster.

problem_with_multiple_calendars_and_float_a.png

problem_with_multiple_calendars_and_float_b.png

Note that the end date will not be pushed out unless over 2 days duration is added to activity A. This means that activity A should have 2 days float.

Why then does activity A have a float of negative 2 days?

(hopefully the picture isn't too small)

Help, % complete doesn't reflect reality

Hi all, i have Project 2003, I'm not an expert and I generally get by (it isn't that important for my job however from time to time it is necessary).

I have a problem that i have one project which has lots of installations, in the beginning requiring more man hours and getting easier toward the end. Currently we are 50% through the projecttimewise but we have installed more than estimated but the % complete column shows much less being based on duration, however the duration really isn't accurate since it might have 10 days for a certain task but that task takes 15 men.

Schedule & Performance % Complete are not Summarized at Summary Level.

S
SM PUM 👤 Member for 14 years 7 months

Hi All

I am Using Primavera P6 Version 8.2.

I have made a programe that is neither loaded wioth cost nor  with resources.I am using Duration % Complete. After assigning the current project as baseline when I have updated the schedule I Found that Schedule % Complete is not rolled up to the summary Level. It is entered in front of each activity but not showing in the TOTAL "Band".Same is the case with PErformance % Complete.

Can any one tell me that what I am missing here

ERROR MESSAGE SLDNA-0655-B CANNOT COPY ANY ACTIVITIES- SUGGESTED HELP PLEASE?

HI Guys,

I'm pretty new to the p6 Program and I'm only just starting out as a Junior project planner. On my second week now and I've all ready managed to currupt the program...lol :-(

When copying and pasting an Activity with relationships I seem to be getting an SLDNA-0655-B error message. Obviosuly I've exited the program and restarted it, however the problem still seems to be there.

SCREEN SHOT BELOW.

Imported file showing constraint that does not exist

A
Anna J 👤 Member for 13 years 10 months

Hello,

I think I may have the answer, but I will still ask the question.  My co-worker has imported a file (.xer) into his master project.  There is one activity showing that it has a constraint, but has none.  Is this perhaps a bug in the program?  Even on the schedule log report that particular activity comes up as having a constraint.  I had him send me the file and I ran the log report and it did not show as a constraint, but in the shedule itself again showed as a constraint.  Is this possible that he imported a different ver of p6 that was not com

Updating status using Iphone?

C
Craig Adams 👤 Member for 14 years 6 months

Has anyone experienced updating schedules using Iphone App?

During Shutdowns we need to keep our guys out in the field rather than having to come into the office to provide status, an app that would allow this would be ideal.

Thanks in advance for your feedback.

Negative (?) terminal float

At contract award, contractor's programme shows planned completion date = completion date.

The works starts as planned but there is then a contractor's incurred delay of 3 weeks, of which 2 weeks will be absorbed by the TRA, should the 1st progressed then programme show:

1) planned completion date + 1 week and same completion date

2) planned completion date + 1 week and completion date + 2 weeks

Thanks.
