Hi - am looking to do the PMI-SP, just wondering if anyone has prior experience of doing the exam?
Trying to avoid doing any prep classes - pretty happy to study on my own. Have the PMBOK and the Practice Standard for Scheduling - would studying these be enough? Has anyone else got any additional materials they are willing to share?

In order to do schedules as an individual consultant, do I need to have a schrduling certificate "officially" in USA? For exame to do engineering you need a PE licence, everybody knows that. But how about doing scheduling? I read in this site that there are a couple widely recognized certification, such as pmp-sp and aace. But these are not officially reqired correct? Of course it would be nice to have but without these one can still do schedules to various construction firms correct?
Also I would need a special liability insurance for scheduling? Just in case...

How much importance do you place on a planner having a qualificatation? Which of those listed do you rate and the most attractive, and why? Would you be willing to pay more for a planner who had such a qualification, or is it just a nice to have?
My firm is looking at what qualifications to support for our planners.
