Best Practice

Hi, I'm using Primavera P6, and I've attended beginners course and read most of Harris' Project planning and control using Primavera P6...

I find the book very usefull, but I miss the best practice discussions. Anyone read anything good or know of good resources on best practice for planning/scheduling/follow up/?

Haakon

Shutdown/Turnaround Planning training

Hello,

I used to work as Project Planner. Have been recently assigned to Maintenance team as TA planning engineer.

I would like to attend the training first. Does anybody know a good training / provider for the Shutdown/Turnaround planning please?

Regards,

Akmaral

PMBOK Guide 5th Edition some key changes

We are starting work on the updates to our training courses (for the change dates see: Examination Updates) and rather like most of the enhancements in the 5th Edition (due for publication on 31st December). Over the next few months we will be posting a number of commentaries on the changes and improvements. This post looks at some of the key changes.

2 Years Experience

S
S M 👤 Member for 13 years 8 months

Hi,

As Senior planners and managers, what would you expect from a planner with 2 years experience, coming into a role within your company.

I am moving into an unrelated company and am a planner with 2 years experience (however around 14 months of this is exposure to P6 and some pertmaster and the rest was on SAP software and project accounting/budgets).

I am trying to prepare as best as I can for this role and really want to read up on and practice any areas so as not to make mistakes and to hit the ground running.

New Planner in New Industry

S
S M 👤 Member for 13 years 8 months

All,

This is my first post but I'm hoping for a good response as I've heard good things.

I am a junior planner who has been given a role as a planner in a new position (Aerospace to now Subsea) and have been told that I will have my own project(s) to manage and progress.

This is relatively new to me as I worked under more experienced and senior planners (10+ years experience) who oversaw my work and who I reported into.

This is also a new industry for me.

PMI Changing the PMI-SP Examination.

The PMI-SP examination will be updated on the 1stSeptember 2013. I’m not sure how extensive the changes will be but all five ‘domains’ within the examination have been re-named and some re-focused.

If you are thinking of taking the exam before the change, you can test your current level of preparedness on a free set of questions with comprehensive answers (no registration required), download the questions from: http://www.mosaicprojects.com.au/Free_PMI-SP_Questions.html
