MS Project Alternatives on Mac

Hi guys, New to the forum but wanted to get some opinions on what you use on Mac instead of Project? I know you can run it via a virtual machine but I'm not a fan of using Windows software on Mac this way. I've checked out some of these alternatives to Microsoft Project For Mac and some of them look pretty good but wanted to hear your opinions. Thanks!

VBA - Deleting Tasks (criteria based)

R
Rob Garbutt 👤 Member for 8 years 10 months

Hi all, I'm looking for some help using VBA to delete rows in an MSP I own. There aretasks in my plan labelled as either "C" or "I" (as in Client or Internal) using a custom "text23" column. I'm currently having to manually delete, line by line those labelled "I" in order to send my client a sanitised version of the plan.

I'm not quite at the stage yet to write my own VBA, but I'm certainly able to administer it. does anyone have an idea as to how the code to perform this task should look?

Circular relation

MS Projects tells me when I open my planning that:

No calculation can be performed because of a circular relationship. Successors of task 462 refer back to this task (Or as I assume one of its subtasks) or its predecessors.

Now this include quit a lot of possible tasks which may cause this circular relation. Is there a smart way to find them?

Many thanks in advance for any help.

Martin

Upcoming due tasks in Project

I'm trying to set up a flag or filter in Project to capture upcoming tasks that are not yet done.

This is the IIf statement I'm using for a custom field. Project accepts the syntax, but returns all fields as a 0. What am I doing wrong? The statement is meant to flag all tasks that are not done and a finish date within the next 7 days.

IIf(([% Complete]<100) AND ([Actual Finish]<ProjDateAdd([Current Date],"+7d")), 1, 0)

Tasks to Milestones

I have a task with a milestones at the end of it in an existing MS Project. The successor is linked to the milestones itself and has a lead time. It is a finish to finish link. But the lead time should still be on the predecessor task? or on the milestone itself?

Given that it is a finish to finish relation it should be the milestone or the task that is considered as the predecessor?

Or should it always be the task that is the predecessor?

Isn t linking to a milestones going to cause trouble for future MS Project calculations and/or optimizations?
