Subject: Application for the position of Senior Planning Manager
Dear Sir,
In response to your recent advertisement for the position of Senior Planning Manager, I would like to present myself as a candidate for this position.
In order to answer some of the initial queries you may have, I would like to give a brief of myself.
I am a Civil Engineer with Master’s degree in “Construction Engineering and Management”. I am a Chartered Professional Engineer (Australia), a member of American Society of Civil Engineers and a certified Project Management Professional (PMP – USA).
I have over 20 years experience in the field of Project Planning / Cost Control. I am currently working as Project Controls Manager on two huge rail projects (total value in billions of dollars) with Transport for New South Wales in Sydney. My responsilbilities include preparation of a resource and cost loaded Baseline Schedule, using a detalied WBS. My responsibilities also include Cost Forecasting, cashflow analysis and preparing cost and schedule control reports for the top management. As part of my duties, I prepare monthly Earned Value Reports, Variance Reports, update Risk Register, process contractor's invoices etc. I have to liaise with various stakeholders in order to keep schedule and cost problems under control.
I am experienced in Earned Value Analysis, Critical Path Analysis, Resource Scheduling and Reporting. I am also Computer literate and experienced user of computer software like PRIMAVERA P6, MS PROJECT, EXCEL, WORD, POWERPOINT, CURA, SCENARIO etc.
I have worked in Saudi Arabia for many years and am familiar with working conditions. I am looking forward to hear from you soon and be part of this exciting project.
