Contract Manager

  • Dubai International Airport Expansion Phase II, Concourse 3 for Dubai Civil Aviation Authority” -  ($USD1.14b)   Contract duration is estimated at twoandhalf years with a built up area of 528000m2.
  • The third concourse was included in the Dubai Airport extension programme to accommodate the increased numberof passengers from the new A380 superjumbo. It will have 20 contact gates, of which 18 will be for the A380. It is afully airside structure and is connected to Terminal 3 via an automated people mover in addition to vehicular andbaggage handling systems utility tunnels.
  • Encased in its elliptical shape are 2 rectangular volumes that hold both 4 and 5 star hotels. The first and business classlounges are located on 2 separate levels below the hotel, including arrival and departure floors and a duty free area.
  • ROLE: Contracts Manager,scope includes the overall co-ordination of the project, managing various subcontract packages and associatedpackages.

  • No. 1 Park Ave Project” ($US460m) - 101 level 389m high tower of combined mix use hotel, serviced apartment, residential, office and retail.
  • ROLE: Project Manager for the complete development.  Responsibilities include Heads of Agreement preparation and Head Contract review and implementation, sub consultancy agreements and definition of scopes to comply with local authority requirements. Mobilisation of the project team, reports and enabling works.  (Project suspended due to global market conditions for finance.)

 (2006–2008) - Dubai, United Arab Emirates

  • Dubai Marina Mall Project” ($US660m)  - 42 level hotel & serviced apartment tower combined with 120000m2 retail mall, 7 level themed gourmet restaurant tower, adjoining commercial office tower with 3 basement parking levels, ground floor, parking on levels 1-7, plant rooms on level 8, offices from level 9-37, associated parking garages, and marine works.
  • ROLE: Area Manager of several construction managers for multiple areas of the project of 5500 men and upwards. Set up of the commercial systems, Variation registers and establishment of company protection against a very onerous contract and large volume in the change management schedule.  Reporting to Hill International (project manager) and Emaar developments (client).
  • The project was started extremely early against design, however, the program and all commercial issues covering multiple design changes were managed tightly against contractual procedures while maintaining clean relationships with the project manager and client.

 

CHD Constructions Pty. Ltd.  (“Concurrent with BAULDERSTONE Employment”)

(2003–2007)  -Sydney, Australia

Owner / Director 

  • Average annual turnover over $1 Million (Aus) per year.   CHD full-time work force fluctuated between 8 to 36 men.  Combined with development of this company was building up of a unique website, which was designed, built and launched in March 2004.  The company tendered for, and won various contracts to carry out sub-contracting works for ‘Multiplex Constructions’ “Baulderstone Hornibrook” & “Australand” on large scale residential and commercial sites. It also provided labour/services to various construction companies in Sydney, Australia and built small housing projects for investment purposes in other states of Australia
  • This business interest was developed in earnest after resigning from Multiplex in 2003 and continued till 2007; with parallel employment in “Baulderstone Hornibrook” the business continued until geographic location of a new work role in Dubai altered the business dynamics.  CHD was closed in mutual success with a partner of 5 years in operation.

  • ROLE: Managed contract issues, program and all commercial claims ensuring contractual procedures were met and successfully manipulated an extensive EOT claim build up into 20 day moratorium to all contract milestones, removing risk from the contractor and earning costs.

  • Responsible for Head Contract reviews for program and commercial timings on new bids, programming & scheduling of all current projects, review of contract signing and project delivery on site.
