Lead Maintenance Planner

Duties:

 

·Scope the full extent of maintenance work needed to conduct the relevant repair / preventive / predictive /design-out activities on the organization`s plant and equipment.

·Develop cost estimates of planned maintenance work to within 10% of final job cost

·Purchase all necessary parts , equipment, services and documentation to perform the maintenance work.

·Write applicable maintenance procedures that promote defect-free work quality.

·Controls maintenance costs associated with the maintenance process.

·Monitoring actual costs of programmes and procedures against the allocated budget.

·Initiating, evaluating and reporting cost reduction schemes/programmes for a defined process or area.

·Assessing, forecasting and reporting on deviations from allocated maintenance costs.

·Ensure all maintenance processes and programmes are implemented and completed within a specific costing framework allocation satisfy budget requirements.

·Responsible for up-keep of technical information on plant and equipment.

·Appreciation of  how maintenance strategy is converted into workplace activities.

·Able and competent in root cause failure analyses leadership and investigations.

·Apply good stores management practices to ensure parts and equipment retain full reliability while stored.

•Ensure adherence to approved standards. Promote environmental awareness. Create quality service awareness amongst subordinates and co-workers.  Monitor and report inconsistencies.

Able to:

-Validate and initiate all planned maintenance in area of responsibility.

- Initiate procedures for planned maintenance system tasks.

-Update master data. Monitor and maintain strategy ratio between planned maintenance and breakdowns.

-Communicate and co-ordinate with various sections regarding complete maintenance plan for resource balancing and effective management of the backlog.

-Monitor total available HRS vs. total HRS scheduled.

-Schedule all work in a particular area for each crew member one week ahead and communicate schedule to supervisor and production equipment co-ordinator. Set up targets for crew member to successfully complete planned work.

-Decide on and procure all resources such as manpower, spares and contractor services to perform maintenance tasks. Planned vs. actual spares.

- Monitor planned spares vs. actual spares.

Ensure maximum utilization by maintenance of equipment availability.

Constantly monitor, report and implement changes.

-Compile and update maintenance history, analyse breakdowns and other data,  identify problem areas and non conformities.

-Monitor corrective maintenance workload vs. available manpower.

-Produce various routine and special reports as required using available data.

 -Assist recipients in interpretation of reports. Suggest corrective actions and monitor recipients initiating suggested actions. Review monthly cost reports and ensures implementation of corrective plans, if necessary.

-Ensure capturing of required statutory requirements in PMMS. 

-Monitor and report progress. Originate, implement and control section strategic plan eg, budgetary, materials, personnel and capital expenditure.

Make short/medium term forecasts to ensure conformance with budget.
