Experience.
2011 - 2012 Planning a Major Ship Refurbishment Project .
Planning the renovation and rebuild of a previously sunken Cargo Ship – the Mighty Servant 3. The ship was being renovated in the Bahamas at the Grand Bahama Shipyard.
The project involved renewal of Steel Sections within the Ship’s Structure and replacement of all the Mechanical and Electrical equipment.
The project programme covered all aspects of the renovation and rebuild through to Commissioning and Sea Trails.
The software used to control the project was Primavera P6.2.
2009 – 2010. Planning Engineer Aberthaw Turbine / Generator Outage Retrofit for Alstom.
Planning the Turbine / Generator Retrofit for Unit 8 at Aberthaw Power Station.
The Planning software used was Suretrak. Plans involved HP’s /LP/s/ IT/ Pedestals/ Oil System/ Boiler Feed Pumps /Generator Stator and Rotor Refits .
Plans were updated daily for reports to Alstom Management and to the Client (on a weekly basis).
2007 – 2009
Planning Engineer – LNG Plant Milford Haven South Wales – for CBI
Planning the construction programme for the construction of the Jetty and Balance of Plant.
This involved liaison with all contractors. Integrating all programmes of works into an overall programme project programme through to commissioning.
Monitoring the progress of the works on a weekly basis and producing monthly progress reports to management.
Special project work on the repair of the Jetty to a tight timescale in readiness for the first ‘Gas On’ milestone date.
Software planning package used Primavera P3 and Excel.
2006 – 2006 Planning Engineer Power Station Chihuahua Mexico for Transalta
Planning Engineer Power Plant Chihuahua Mexico. Planning involved all outstanding Construction works to be completed for Commissioning and start up of the plant . Software used was Primavera and Microsoft Project.
2005 – 2006
Planning Engineer Nuclear Outage – Heysham 1 - for British Energy
Planning all Pile Cap Outage works for Heysham 1 Outage. Integrating all Pile Cap works with all other Outage works – Boiler and Babcock works.
Using Microsoft Project.
Pile Cap works were completed all to programme.
I have Security Clearance.
2004 – 2005 Planning Engineer – Gas Storage On Shore / Offshore / Pipeline Installation Project for Lurgi Poland / Turkey for Lurgi.
Planning the Design / Procurement / Construction and Commissioning programme for a major Gas Storage project in Turkey. The project was engineered in Poland and constructed in Turkey. Project planning involves all activities in the Engineering Construction and Commissioning works.
The project entity was planning the Offshore Terminal works / Pipeline installations and construction of the Onshore GAS Storage facility.
Project Planning Software used is Primavera P3.
2003 – 2004 FEED Senior Planning Engineer – for Foster Wheeler Reading UK.
Senior Planning Engineer for De- Carbonised Fuels (Oil & Gas) Project in Scotland. The project involved all FEED Planning works for all Design Disciplines. Meeting the target date for submission of the FEED Bid Package to BP.
The project involved liaison with all design disciplines, producing Schedules using Excel/ Microsoft Project and Primavera P3.
2002 - 2003 Taiwan - Assistant Planning Manager Taiwan High Speed Rail Project.

Consultancy Planning on the THSRC Rail Project. Carrying out Track, E&M Rail planning for the 350 kilometre Rail Project. Using Primavera P3. Planning involved all E&M – Power cable, Catenary, FOC, Radio, Signalling, Track – concrete and ballast planning works. Integrating Track and E&M Planning Programmes using Project Groups. Resourcing the project programmes. Producing Progress Curves for the project and trades.

My work involved analysis of Contractors projects plans. Liason with Contractors on the changes required in their programmes to meet overall project completion dates.
Working with the Civil, Mechanical, Electrical engineers ‘On Site’ on the progress of Works.
Attending Project Management meetings on Progress of the Works.
Liaison with the Project Commissioning Engineers. Producing Project Commissioning Plans for completion of the Works.
Producing project plans to meet the Project Milestones dates during the construction of the Works.
Liaison with Senior Project Management on the progress of the Works.

2000- 2001 Project Planning Engineer – Nottingham Light Railway Project (NET1)

Planning Design Procurement and Installation Works for the Nottingham Light Railway Project,
The project involved 23 Tram Stops a Depot and interface Works with and existing Railtrack line.
My involvement covered Signaling, Enabling Works, Power Supply, Tram Manufacture and Assembly and System Integration.
This also required merging of all sub contract supplier programmes into one project and linking the interfaces between the supplier projects.
The project planning software used was Primavera plus Excel to produce Progress Curves for the Works.
1998- 1999 Manila International Airport – Deputy Project Manager.
(Philippines) Deputy Project Manager working for the client, controlling a team of 6 personnel, preparing the Tender Design packages for inclusion into contractor Bid Packages.
Analyzing Contractor Pre Qualification documents and reducing the number of contractors in the bidding procedure from 20 to 4.
Organizing Bid Conferences for contractors and dealing with all contractors’ questions.
Analyzing Contractors bids through to award of contract.
Reviewing contractor’s Tender Planning Programmes using Microsoft Project and Primavera. Preparing comments and reports on viability of the programmes submitted.
Comparing the respective bids for Special purpose Systems such as:
Baggage Handling, Terminal Control Systems, Cute System, Ramp Control, FIDS, passenger Loading Bridges and Fuel Hydrant System.
Organizing numerous meetings with Government Agencies, Main Contractor and Sub Contractor Suppliers that were interested in tendering for the Works.
1995 - 98 Project Planning Consultant - Kuala Lumpur International; Airport.
(Malaysia) Responsible for advising the client on the progress of the airport construction packages. This involved working with main sub contractors for the Satellite Building for (45) aircraft and the manufacture and installation of the Passenger Loading Bridges involving (75) aircraft for the whole airport.
Also involved in the Light Rail Project between the Mail Terminal and the Satellite Building.
These works involved using the Sub. Contractor’s programmes, assessing the status of the works and reporting to the client on the critical areas and advising on actions required to reduce the criticality of parts of the project.
Other works involved liaison with related works contractors on the site to meet the Interface dates for integrated works that affected completion of the Satellite Building and the Overall Airport Substantial Completion date.
The project software used was Primavera.
As part of the project Works I was l also involved in assessing the Contractors claims and preparing the Client’s defence and counter claims. This entailed writing contractual letters and investigating previous and current project plans relative to the contractor claim.
1994 - 95 Senior Planning Engineer - Railtrack York.
Responsible for planning and controlling all Railtrack major projects for the North East Zone. This mainly involved construction of bridges to meet the new European Safety requirements and also new Overbridges as part of new road constructions over railway tracks. Responsible for a team of three Planning Engineers.
The planning software used was Primavera plus Excel.
1993 - 94 Site Planning Engineer - AMEC Baglan Bay Refinery, Swansea, Wales.

Planning a major revamp programmes for BP’s Baglan Bay Refinery in Swansea. This involved a major change out of three of the Refinery Towers and associated pipeworks. The works had to be complete in a two-week turnaround and was completed on time.
The project planning software used was Open Plan.
1992 - 93 Senior Planning Engineer - Power Project - Teeside.
Working for ABB as a Planning Engineer and Assistant Project engaged on a Combined Cycle Gas Plant at Tested North of England. This involved the installation of (24) transformers and (2) Switchgear plants plus all the gas trunking around the site. The project was completed on time and budget.
I was also involved as a Project Manager providing management services to three main sub contractors for ABB’s Contract Works. The Project Management software used was Primavera.
1990 - 92 Project Planning Consultant - Jahor Bahru Malaysia
(Malaysia) On assignment working for Hi - Point Projects in Malaysia. This work involved planning the infrastructure installations for a major leisure project involving the construction of (9) hotels and (4) golf courses. The project planning software used was Hornet.
