My name is Steve Church and I live in NSW (Newcastle) where I have owned and operate a small boutique Planning / Project Controls since 1988 (approx 25 years). I use Primavera as my preferred Planning tool, but I often use Microsoft Project as required.
Over the years I’ve been lucky to experience projects in Defence, Health, Mining and Metals, Oil and Gas, and Commercial High-rise. I’ve taken projects from Pre-Feasibility Study stage right through EIS, Engineering, Procurement, Construction and Commissioning.
Most notably I spent 14 Years as the Lead Planner/Scheduler at Port Waratah Coal Services (the worlds largest Coal Handling Facility @ 145 Mtpa), during all their expansions which included over 75 critical Whole Plant outages, 5 major upgrades to Plant and Equipment. Since 1998 that’s over $2.5 Billion across 5 upgrades.
Currently I am the Lead Planner / Scheduler for Universal Studios Japan (Osaka), where we are constructing the new “Wizarding World of Harry Potter”.
When you contact my references you will find that I have a 100% success rate at delivering projects under time and usually well under budget. I do this by constantly communicating the project schedule to every level of the project, from the Trades who’ll execute the work right up to Senior Management who require high level confidence that the project is in good shape.
I have a very inclusive approach to planning and will often produce different ways of communicating the schedule content using “Cartoons”, animations, graphs as well as the gannt charts to get the message out to the project team.
I run regular planning meetings with all stakeholders where I run the project software ‘live’ so that updates and changes can be examined on the spot. Critical paths are constantly challenged and resolved, and I find this to be a very effective method of getting everyone on the same page.
