Jay joined Mace in 2008 and has worked as a Data Analyst (ODA) and a Construction Scheduler (LOCOG) within the CLM team on the London 2012 programme. He previously worked as a Logistics Consultant at Arup where he worked on over 60 different projects gaining experience of developing operating strategies for built developments across a number of different sectors.
Within the ODA Jay worked on the Logistics project where he was responsible for the production of various progress reports and operational forecasts. As a natural extension of his role he began to support the planning function within the team, taking responsibility for certain elements of the programme.
Building on the experience he gained from the Logistics project Jay began working as a Construction Scheduler within LOCOG from March 2011 where he was responsible for ensuring that Broadcast Functional Area requirements were reflected in the Venues and Infrastructure overlay construction programme.
Jay is an effective communicator with a likeable personality, capable of working within all levels of an organisation; this has allowed him to build good working relationships which have been essential for ensuring successful outcomes in his current role. He is a quick learner and has proven to be especially adaptable. He has a very methodical approach to problem solving; in his current role this has allowed him to work over and above his initial scope as the project has progressed, leading him to being assigned a managerial role during the Olympic Games with a responsibility for overseeing the broadcast facilities located within the park.
Jay is a proficient user of Primavera P6 and MS project and is familiar with using them for planning and progress tracking. From his time on the Logistics project (London 2012 programme), Jay has experience planning a project which had many interdependencies with other projects in the programme and also in the production of progress reports and dashboards and in setting, monitoring and updating KPIs and key progress metrics. Jay is a capable user of MS Excel and has used it extensively for data interrogation and the construction of desktop models and also has some previous experience using process simulation software – Witness, Simul8 and Arena.
