Indiabulls is an Indian organization with recent interest in Thermal power, currently they have two power plants under construction in Nasik and Amravati in the state of Maharastra. The main plant equipments are supplied by BHEL. The Plant Configuration is 5 X 270 MW in Phase-I each site.
Current Status:- Milestones achieved:- Boiler Hydrotest for both the units and expecting Boiler Light up by end of July’12.

- Prepared procedures for Time Management (Schedule preparation and updating of the schedule) for all the new vendors and site managers for the project.
- Frequent site visits to hold meeting and resolution of issues with the various function heads and vendors, wherever required taking the engineering and procurement team along with to sort out the issues related to site execution directly on site.

Lead Planner for Environment Control System Division,Kolkatta
In Environment Control System Division of Alstom, based out in Kolkatta, This BU deals with Gas Treatment Center Projects, Electro Static Precipitators Projects.
About the Project:
The Client is Hindalco Industries and Project is spread in two Locations Aditya(Orissa) & Mahan(MP).
Scope of work is EPC for 2 Gas Treatment Centers for each location. The Duration of the project is 20 Months & 22 Months for first units and second units lag by six months. There is about 12000MT of structural steel and ducting works to be erected in addition to Major bought Out items like Main Exhaust Fans,Field Instruments, PLC,Concrete Stack of 80Mts and various other equipment Foundations.
My KRAs:
- Preparation of the Baseline Schedule, with inputs from all the functions E, P & C, Preparation of the weighting Structure for Progress Monitoring at WBS level to Activity level for entire schedule.
- For the project the Basic Engineering (Mainly process Engineering) is done by Alstom Norway, coordinating with Alstom Norway in terms of timelines for their deliverables and placing the same in the overall master Baseline schedule.
- Preparing of the Planning Package and roll out of the same, which mainly consists of assigning resources to each activities and preparing S-Curves, Engineering Manhours & Steel profiles/Loading, Vendor Loading for the Project, revenue Milestones agreed internally.
- Preparing the Progress Registers in Microsoft excel for obtaining Progress from various functions viz, E,P &C. Obtaining Progress on weekly basis and updating the schedule on a fortnightly basis.
- Preparing the relevant documentation for Monthly review, quarterly review internal, clients progress report and critical path analysis for the project. Thereby suggesting workaround for the activities without any holdpoints.
- Maintaing Engineering & Construction “HoldUps” Log and updating the same every week and prepare Extension of time claim based on the same hold-up logs.
- Setting up the project for “Progress Supporter “ (internally developed software for reporting)so as to automate the S-curve and Progress table generations,including the Milestones and revenue status,Project dashboard etc.

The Thermal Systems,Plants Business Unit is the main contender for all the Power Projects Pursuits of Alstom, works in tandem with Turbo Machineries & Boilers group.
About the Project: There are various tendering pursuits of Alstom for various clients (new & existing). The Tender Time schedules are prepared keeping various options in mind suiting the clients requirement and site conditions.
My KRAs:
- Standardization of TTS (Tender Time Schedule) based on Indian Conditions, since most of the Projects executed by Alstom are based out in Europe and Middle East. Therefore Standardisation of the TTS for Indian Conditions was very important.
- Understanding the Clients requirements in terms of Site conditions (Green Field /Brown Field Projects), the contractual HT Power available Dates, Gas Availability dates and the Commercial Operation Dates.
- Creating various scenarios in terms of TTS and presenting it to the Core Team Members and having there inputs on the same and subsequent agreement after review of the Business Sales Manager.
- Coordinating with Other Business Units like Turbo Machineries and Boilers and functions like Engineering,Procurement,Construction in terms of Broad deliverables of the Project.
- Work Out the Estimate of Pre-NTP works especially Engineering and Site Investigations works and calculating the savings in the overall TTS based on it.

About the Project: The Plant Construction was completed in 2006 But Hot-commissioning could not be done due to non availability of Fuel Gas. With GAILs positive note on gas availability, the Commissioning team is mobilized to carry out re-cold commissioning and hot commissioning.
Net Power Output 464MW, with 2 Gas Turbines (13E2-Asltom Make) and 1 Steam Turbine with two pressure HRSGs.
My KRAs:
- Preparation of the Commissioning schedule for Electrical, Gas Turbine, Steam Turbine, HRSGs, Water Steam Cycle and Balance of Plant activities monitoring and controlling of the same.
Identification of the Critical path and reporting on a daily basis.
- Maintaining database for NCRs, Punch Points discipline wise and followup up on their closure.
- Briefing Clients on the Progress of Commissioning on a weekly basis and sending in daily progress report discipline wise to the clients.
- Coordination with Alstom head office in Baden, Switzerland for requirement of Specialists resources on site based on the updated schedule.

About the Project: First time in India, Alstom GT26 (Gas Turbine) with OTC (Once Through Cooler) is used, With HRSG, HRSG-By-Pass Stack. The By-Pass Stack is a unique Feature of this Project.
This is a fast track Project of 27 Months Duration.
My KRAs:
- Development of Vendor Schedules, for Mechanical Erection, Cooling Tower Turnkey Package, Civil Package for Main Control Buildings, Switchyard Control Building, Power Island, Offsite Control Building. Identifying the Critical Paths and near Critical paths and Prepare Resource Mobilization Plan for the Vendors.
- Updation of Master Time Schedule, collating the information from the Vendor Schedule Updates, Progress Monitoring and Generation of S-curves for various WorkUnits to reflect the Planned Vs Actual and Progress Reporting. Identifying the Critical Paths and Float Analysis of the MTS and maintain the Float Contingency as per the Tender Time Schedule (TTS).
- Ensure the correctness of Vendor Schedules updation by discussing with the discipline leads and the vendor payments based on the Schedule updation.
- MIS Preparation, by collecting Information from Stores, EHS leads.
- Identifying, Highlighting and Followup with various disciplines for the schedule milestones like, DTO (Document Turnover—Which demarcates the Engineering time frames),CTO( Civil Turn Over-Which demarcates the Civil Works for various work units), MHO( Material Handover- Which demarcates the Material Handover time frame to M&E vendors), TOP(Package Turnover—Which demarcates the M&E Handover to Commissioning ) and maintain a slippage register for the slippage in Milestones and overall impact on the Project.

- Senior Project Controls Engineer, C&I refurbishment contract of ESKOM Power Project, Grootvlei
About the Project:ESKOM Grootvlei Power Plant is a 6 x 200MW Thermal power Plant. Honeywell’s Scope include Supply, installation and commissioning of DCS, field instruments (Transmitters, Actuators, Flow meters, Analyzers etc.) ,System Cabinets, Marshalling Cabinets, Field cabling.
In addition to the above we have developed and supplied OTS (Operator Training Simulator) and PIS (Plant Information System) for the Plant.
The Project duration is 36 months and Order Value is 40MUSD.
The Project is inschedule with an approved Change Order of 4 MUSD in First 10 Months.
My KRAs :
- Preparation of schedules for various Projects in Primavera (P3) Version3 based on the contract data or agreed milestone schedules provided by the customer, WBS definition, roles & resources assignment. Creating target Projects and periodic monitoring of the same for budget & Schedule Variances, analysis of the variances and reporting.
- Contract Management to ensure collective effort to meet the contractual obligations, identification of risks and opportunities, Example: ensuring the FRI submitted to customer is realistic, in case of any gaps firming up workarounds or alternatives. Maintaining the key milestone dates.
- Ensuring the timeliness and adhering to the discipline of the Supply Chain Management System, thus ensuring the scheduled deliverables are met with as per the Program, both for Third Party and Honeywell Hardware & Software.
- Setting up and updating of the Global Project Controls Work Book and the Deliverables Control Index, wherein the control budget, internal cost adjustments, change orders, Hourly Performance index(HPI), Cost Performance Index(CPI), risk & opportunities are tracked.
- Handling Order Management Module in ERP for the Project, it involves raising Purchase Indents, Vendor negotiation, Purchase Order Generation and contract administration.
- Participation in monthly review meetings with the customer to report on Progress and analysis of variance is any and provide them with feasible workarounds to minimize the variance.
- Preparation of internal & external cash flow diagrams and Profitability analysis, Preparing and substantiating Estimates at Completion calculations (EAC), Continuous monitoring of contract and change management.

Honeywell Process Solutions have decided to implement, Primavera Enterprise version 5, across all the Projects in HPS worldwide, Current thrust is on EMEA region, The Projects are populated into the enterprise tools and tracked by the respective Country Operations Manager/Project Managers in terms or Schedule and Budget, issues if any.
Thereby facilitating an enterprise wise Management and control of all the projects, by means of extracting predefined reports for various MIS and reviews.
International Projects Exposure: Traveled to Honeywell South Africa, Bulgaria, Italy, Spain & Belgium to train the Project Managers on Project Controls Tools and Primavera Enterprise version.

Assistant Construction Manager (Project planning) inTirupur Water Supply and Sewerage Project.
About the Project:Project Value was INR 290 Crores , “Tirupur Water Supply and sewerage Project” of duration 36 months. The Major deliverable was 180MLD of treated water to be supplied to 900Industries in and around Tirupur. We had constructed 36 Water Distribution stations, including massive concreting & reinforcements that apart high rise elevated tanks of octagonal cross-section. Around 106KM of Pipe laying (MS Pipes, CI, DI, HDPE) work was involved with 1000 plus valves of various sizes. All the Distribution stations were interconnected and master control was done by SCADA system. Horizontal & vertical Pump set erections, Ionide Flooring to name a few.

Planning Engineer for Various Water Supply Projects in and around TamilNadu
About the Project:Projects: Construction of Under Ground & over Head Storage reservoirs, erection of Pumps, Laying of Pipeline (CI, DI, PVC & HDPE), various types of valves and Specials and commissioning.
The purpose of the Projects was to establish new or augment the existing water supply system of various districts in and around Tamil Nadu.
These Projects were being Planned, Monitored and controlled from a central Program Planning cell, due to scattered nature of the Projects.
All the Projects were of 8-12 Months in duration and occur in a complex overlapping nature, i.e, Projects running in parallel in many locations, involving complex resource mobilization and feed.
The Value of the Program was INR 30 Crores and the Program was behind schedule by 4 months due to reasons beyond the Program team’s control (mostly due to the Govt. and other Civic bodies).
The Program was closed out successfully with no penalties and 15% GM. The Projects were spread across Tamilnadu viz,TWAD Dharmapuri, TWAD Ambur, TAWD Vettavelam , TWAD Rishivandhiyam , TWAD Uthangarai.)
