Good Afternoon,
The purpose of this letter is to summarise my career to date and highlight certain areas that may be of interest in respect of the aforementioned vacancy advertised on the Planning Planet website.
Throughout my career as a commissioned officer in the Royal Engineers and in particular in the role of the Regimental Operations Officer I developed the ability to succinctly write various types of operational reports and plans. The content was dependent upon the situation and the amount of time and resources available and ultimately the required end state. The plans were established through considerable liaison with both internal and external stakeholders.
As the Regimental Operations Officer for an exceptionally busy organisation of over 500 cross – functional personnel my responsibilities included ensuring that both personnel and resources were available at short notice to a number of commitments around the world. This was achieved through the continual maintenance of a forecast of events and the subsequent production of managerial reports thus ensuring the organisation fulfilled both its operational and peacetime commitments.
The Regimental Operations Officer job involved considerable management, project planning and organizational skills, which included the deployment of approximately 110 personnel from the UK to an operational theatre within 10 days. I have also planned, managed and successfully executed the largest construction exercise in Scotland for over 500 personnel where I ensured the numerous tasks were concluded in line with the Directors’ intents and aims. Through regular co-ordination conferences, chaired by myself, the progress of the tasks were updated and reviewed to ensure that key checkpoints were being met during the task lifecycle. This also highlighted any potential risks and thus provided an opportunity to implement risk mitigation procedures to enable the task to be completed within the constraints.
I have recently finished a contract with Saab Training Systems where I was involved in the facilitation oftraining of British Forces in Counter - Improvised Explosive Device detection during both pre - deployment and operational training in the UK and Afghanistan.
I have an acute eye for detail and am exceptionally professional in my work ethic. I am a determined, hard working individual who will complete all tasks to the highest of standards and within any designated time frame and coupled with a very good working knowledge of MS Office, qualified in PRINCE2 and Primavera P6 will allow me to be an effective member of your team.
Your time in this matter is greatly appreciated and I look forward to hearing from you.
Yours sincerely,
N P Carter
