Work Experience
I started my career by serving my time as an apprentice plumber welder with ICI on the Wilton site, it was while spending some time in the planning and estimating department that I decided planning was what I wanted to work towards. During the 2nd year of my apprenticeship I was honoured to receive the Sir Ewart Smith award for the Most Improved Apprentice of the Year and in my 4th year was shortlisted to 4 for the ICI national Fleck award. I spent a number of years learning my trade by working for some of the top companies in the country (Redpath Offshore, Matthew Hall, Wimpey ME&C, Fluor)
I studied critical path analysis whilst working for ICI at Teesside polytechnic and started my first planning engineer role with Cleveland Pipework Services in 1982
Since moving into management in the early 80’s I have worked as Planning Engineer for a number of companies throughout the country as well as overseas. I have experience of many of the latest computer software packages including Microsoft office, which includes Microsoft Project 2000. I attended a course on AutoCAD V14in 2001 and since then I have worked with version 2000. I have experience of most project management software, which began with Artemisin the early 1980’s and have progressed to some of the most up to date software includingMicrosoft Project, Primavera P3, P5 & P6, ASTA Powerproject/Teamplan
These project management tools along with my experience have been the backbone of my success on a variety of contracts. I am able to use my vast knowledge and experience to control and run major contracts for some of the largest oil company’s in the world. In order to understand my business from an engineer’s point of view I studied and achieved a pass in A Level computer programming and furthered my qualifications by studying for a HNCin Fabrication and Welding at Teesside Tertiary in Middlesbrough.
