I obtained my B.Sc. degree (Civil Engineering) from University of Engineering & Technology Lahore Pakistan in early 2001. I have 11 years of construction experience with various local and multi-national organisations. The projects that I have worked for belong to both public and private sectors and various market sectors including Buildings, Highways, Infrastructure and Water & Wastewater. My key experience includes project management, planning, cost control, cost budgeting, capital budgeting, whole life costing, project selection and feasibility, project control documentation and procedures, resource management, progress monitoring and evaluation, delay-impact analysis, schedule risk assessment & analysis, benchmarking, assessment (structures, trees, crops as part of EIA), contracts and procurement.
Starting my career as a Site Engineer with Belhasa Engineering & Contracting Co., Dubai UAE, I have worked with different organisations under diverse roles such as Assistant Planning Engineer, Planning Engineer, Deputy Manager (Planning) and Manager Project Management. During my tenure with various reputed organisations, I have provided my valuable inputs for improvement of Project Control Systems (PCS) for status review & monitoring, prepared construction cost estimates, conducted rate analysis for various construction items, assigned and allocated various types of resources, planned and prepared materials procurement schedules, established labour and Plant/ equipment Budgets, developed baseline schedules (Cost & Time) for a number of projects, assessed the contingency budgets and have practically worked on the procurement of various resources (contractors/ sub-contractors/ individual consultants).
I have also been involved in setting the criteria for selection of consultants/ contractors and reviewing Terms of Reference (TOR) for the same. In addition, I have played a major role in assessing the technical and financial capabilities of firms for pre-qualification process.
I have expertise in various planning softwares including all versions of Primavera Project Planner, Microsoft Project Professional (MPP) and I am an expert user of commercial softwares like Microsoft Office Package.
Apart from enhancing my skills through my work experience, I have paid a great heed to my continuous Personal and Professional Development which I consider a key to one’s sustainability. I have always encouraged and supported my sub-ordinates, supporting staff, colleagues and team members towards their professional growth and development whenever I got a chance. I have taken various technical and managerial courses in this regard and attended various seminars and workshops. I have also obtained (Project Management Professional) PMP credential in 2008 (validity 2015) which is awarded by PMI, USA. Furthermore, I am a graduate member of ICE UK and I am in the process of getting Chartered Engineer status from ICE, UK.
I am affiliated with various professional bodies across the world to keep me updated with state of the art technology and innovations in the construction industry. I am a member of Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC), Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE), UK and Society of Engineers UAE. I always try to keep me updated of the technological developments across the globe through various international journals as “Economist”, “Construction Week”, NCE (issued by ICE, UK) and through different newspapers.
Although managing and coordinating people that come from various geographical locations and cultures is not an easy task but I am able establish strong interpersonal relationships throughout my career with all of my colleagues, stakeholders, company management and consortium partners. The geographical locations I have served include Pakistan, UAE, Oman and Jordan.
