      Planning & Project Controls Manager, Portugal.

  • Successfully completed a `mini-assignment’ in Portugal to `troubleshoot’ and realign the construction plan of the project that had been pre-agreed with the client; this was completed within six weeks, together with the creation of a streamlined management reporting system and audit trail.

Planning & Project Controls Manager, Sinopec, Beijing.

  • Selected as part of the management team to deliver the Detailed Engineering & Design package offering Western style methodologies & expertise to 120+ Chinese Engineers working on the Iranian Yadavaran project for 50 oil & gas well, associated pipe-work, gas compression and crude blenders.
  • Led the planning team by initiating and developing a L3 plan with resource loaded activities.
  • Responsible for the installation and introduction of Project Control Workbooks (and training of LEs) for cohesive inter-disciplinary project reporting and feedback to the directorate and client.
  • Promoted ‘buy-in’ from all LEs, and cultivated a sense of urgency and accuracy in project reporting to the client.

  • Implemented Primavera P6 on approx 120 projects completing the project within the timescale resulting in improving managerial reporting efficiencies. (Migrated from MSP)
  • Initiated new and improved systems within the department that resulted in substantially reduced departmental costs; improved KPIs from 36% to 100% in less than 5 months. Received commendation from Refinery General Manager in recognition of improved and consistent KPIs.
  • Worked cohesively within the Technical Services Dept; mentoring contractors to produce accurate, resource-loaded plans with critical path analysis & weekly reporting to achieve maximum benefit to the numerous projects and management teams

  • Advocate of ‘World Class Maintenance with Excellence’ techniques developed jointly with Chevron and McKinsey, I was tasked with a project for the development and running of a training programme to ensure re-alignment of the principles to all Chevron maintenance staff ensuring consistency of operation within the refinery maintenance teams

 

 

 

Routine Maintenance Scheduler

  • Gained experience by working in all areas of the refinery improving engineering maintenance systems - leading teams, supported by the Area Engineers to produce a >70% backlog reduction of work orders in a period of less than 3 months.
  • Assisted with the introduction of Koru2 business improvement process whilst scheduling routine maintenance activities for multi-discipline works in the Blending & Shipping Area.
  • Initially responsible for the coordination and balancing of refinery-wide Central Services Group resources (civil and engineering trades) by producing detailed plans & day-work schedules.

Being the prime client contact my wide and varied responsibilities included all fiscal negotiations and contract renewals, planning, directing, supervising and controlling all technical aspects and performance of any single or group of concurrent projects. Home and export markets served within the oil & gas, petrochemical, pharmaceutical, nuclear and food industries.

  2. Managed the day-to-day running of a number of landfill sites to > 1 million M3 capacity. Other duties included the organising and running of civil engineering teams, all abnormal load movements of heavy plant machinery used for construction of preparatory engineering works, gas pipelines, bund walls, haul roads, and reinstatement projects.

  • Former Member of the Chevron Global Manufacturing Knowledge Management Team assisting others as a subject matter expert.
  • Holds a Patent; the product currently in use in the nuclear, medical and food industries.
