With over forty years experience in the MEP Engineering Services sector of the construction industry within the UK, Europe and Middle East, and being managing director of a successful business with 40 employees for over twenty years, I have a wide ranging knowledge of the following :

Experience in many market sectors – Industrial, Commercial, Food production, Postal Centres, Hotels, Health, Home Office, MOD, Housing, Retail and Education – covering Mechanical and Electrical Engineering and a comprehensive understanding of associated specialist sub contractors and construction procedures.

Experienced in Design, Estimating, Contract Control and Project Management from concept to completion and handover.

Procurement and contract negotiation, accounts, cost control, VAT and PAYE, employment law, training and all other procedures associated with running a business.

Management of contract work, estimating and design functions on site or office based.

Project delivery, on time and within budget and quality led for complete customer satisfaction. Accurate monitoring, forecasting and reporting on project status throughout all stages of the process e.g. planning, programming, cashflow, resources and costs.

Career History :

October 2010 Present – Refocusing my skills & services and targeting many new markets within building management.

August 2009 – October 2010 Consultancy services. Advising cost, planning & contract control procedures, reviewing

markets to improve enquiry levels. Opportunities restricted due to state of industry.

July 2007 – July 2009 Chairman of newly formed Mechanical and Electrical Engineering services company within

construction group. Turnover c. £4million. Resigned July 2009 to look at other opportunities.

1987 – 2007 Managing Director of newly formed MEP engineering services company, building up to a £3 million

turnover with 40 employees until merged into above newly formed company.

1981 – 1986 Engineering Contracts Manager with Wimpey Construction Special Projects division.

1976 – 1981 Working with French, German and Dutch companies on construction projects around Europe and the Middle

East. General work consisted of design involvement, cost control and on site management.

1971 – 1976 Working on UK projects for Sulzer, a Swiss engineering company.

Prior - An interesting and varied student engineering apprenticeship.
