Sir/Madam,
I am writing today in response to an advertised position of Planning Engineer in Saudi. I currently work for Network Rail within the Investment Projects Enhancements (IPE) Asset.
I am aware that do not meet the 5 year experience criteria as advertised however I feel that I have extensive experience in the rail industry in terms of large projects and Track Renewals. I have worked and continue to work on several major multi-asset projects including:
- 2012 Olympics – Enhancement of Stratford station area and surrounding Olympic Park area including additional platforms, electrified freight and passenger lines and Frequency enhancement of current lines. – Role: Construction/Delivery Planner on major working possessions.
- Cross Cornwall Rail Connection – At Completion Cost - £47Million – Project to increase frequency on various lines in Cornwall, particularly on Newquay Line and also to create a new route to the Eco Town of Cornwall. – Role – Project Planner for Development, Implementation and Delivery of project.
- Ebbw Vale Frequency Enhancement – At Completion Cost - £30 Million – Re-doubling of Ebbw Vale branch from Crosskeys to Aberbeeg Junction to allow increased service frequency. Role – Project Planner for Development, Implementation and Delivery of project.
- Cotswolds Re-doubling – At Completion Cost -£52 million – Track redoubling through Cotswolds area incorporating multiple assets due to new Permanent Way, Track Renewals, Re-Signalling, Telecoms installation and major Tunnel works and Bridge removals/installations. – Role- Planning Assistant / Planner for Pre-Delivery and current Constuction/Delivery phases
- NewportStation Regeneration – At Completion Cost -£26 Million – New station built on existing site to accommodate proposed future rises in train frequency, carried out in conjunction with NASR signalling schemes. – Role: Planning Assistant during Construction/ Delivery Phase.
As a Planning Assistant / Project Planner for Investment Project Enhancements with Network Rail I am responsible for preparing project Work Breakdown Structures and plans, monitoring programmes and regular updates for a large portfolio of complex work projects in accordance to UK GRIP requirements. I have a detailed knowledge of Primavera P3e and a strong understanding of the wider Project Management Framework.
A strong knowledge of earned value management and milestone and KPI reporting also help me to keep control of the variety of projects, ensuring that they are delivered to the high standard expected.
My directly applied strengths include:
- Extensive experience in working with P3e/P5, Oracle Projects, MS Project Microsoft Office, Possession Planning Systems and Documentum.
· Experience in Rail industry planning and delivery of major multifunction construction and engineering projects involving Track Renewal, Buildings, Civil Engineering, Signalling, Telecoms, Asset Protection and Structures
- Working as both Planning Assistant and Designated Project Planner on Investment Projects with AFC’s ranging from Circa £1 Million to £50+ Million
· A strong working knowledge of investment programme and project controls processes and systems.
· Able to compile and manage data in a proficient and competent manner.
- Experience with Risk Management, Value Management and Earned Value.
- Currently Studying for Construction Management BSc at University of West England.
