Construction management graduate with experience in construction planning, currently working for an industrial re-roofing specialist.
I developed an interest in planning during an undergraduate placement with GB Building Solutions in Wakefield where I worked as a planning engineer using Asta Power Project. I had hoped to progress through a 5 year training program after returning to Leeds Metropolitan University to complete my degree. However, during this time the company was hit hard by the recession, a lot of redundancies were made and this was no longer possible.
Post graduating I returned to Northumberland and after applying for various graduate jobs accepted an offer from Mitie Roofing and have used the time with them to gain some experience in industrial re-roofing and cladding. However, because of the specialist nature of the works they carry out, I feel my role with Mitie is limited in terms of my professional development and ideally would be looking for a role which would allow myself to develop my knowledge of, and gain wider experience, within the refurbishment and construction industry.
I understand I have not had as much experience as would be ideal, but during a year working in planning I feel I have learnt a lot and particularly enjoyed the experience it allowed me to gain in a wide number of fit out and construction activities and also the logic behind grouping them together within a project. I have remained enthusiastic about the discipline and I very keen to return to a role within it.
I hope this is relevant and of interest to yourselves regarding the position you are aiming to fill.
Please see CV for specific details of planning experience.
Kind regards
David Grant
