Andrew Travers resume

To whom it may concern,

I am highly interested in the role of Planning Engineer at a Top 10 Contractor in the UK Midlands being advertised by Project Controls Global. For the past two years, I have been gaining experience in planning and scheduling for the construction industry, while also providing project controls and project management advice. The challenges and thrills that come with putting together or altering plans to properly forecast the way forward on big projects are concepts that I am both familiar with and enjoy. I am moving to the UK in January 2019 and looking to find a job that allows me to continue developing along my current career path.

The Planner role at CH2M perfectly captures the direction I would like my career to progress. My current role has allowed me to work on tunnelling and highway-upgrade megaprojects, such as WestConnex in Sydney, from inception through to delivery. Since starting on this role, I have been most involved with (and most interested in) the mechanical and electrical installation phase of the project. In this role I have become intimately familiar with Primavera P6, using it to develop a suitable programme in the initial phases of the project (for later stages of WestConnex), conduct critical path and total float analyses and track the earned value of the project. I have also created and managed TILOS time-chainage diagrams and ran several schedule risk analyses for these projects.

As an employee, I thrive when I am required to work in fast-paced environments and I am used to working under a high amount of pressure. I currently provide scheduling and reporting services on projects worth billions of dollars for the New South Wales state government, and I have developed necessary technical skills, attention to detail and organisational strategies to enable me to perform in such environments to a very high standard.

I have expert experience in scheduling systems Microsoft Project and Primavera P6 and am talented at using Microsoft Excel and other Office programs to analyse data and produce reports for both experts and non-experts. I specialise in working as part of a team with professionals of multiple disciplines and backgrounds to gather and share relevant information and then translate this information to alter or create accurate plans and schedules. I am highly familiar with critical path analysis and am more than capable at keeping schedules up to date and bringing critical activities to the focus of relevant stakeholders.

It should be noted that I am an Australian citizen, but also that I have possession of a visa that grants permission to work in the UK starting 18 January 2019.

I look forward to hearing from you soon and discussing this opportunity further.

Kind regards,

Andrew Travers
