Dear Sir / Madam,
Please find attached my curriculum vitae,
I am currently employed as a Turnaround planner and scheduler with BP at the Kwinana refinery in Perth, Western Australia.
My primary area of responsibility is the initial development of the Turnaround work scope. Key to this development is identifying the needs of the refinery into the future to ensure that the opportunity is taken during the turnaround to execute this work and place the refinery well going forward.
I believe this experience coupled with my experience in the maritime supply industry would place me well in a client mentoring position within your company.
Secondly to the initial development of the Turnaround scope, is to schedule the agreed work scope. Planning is started in Maximo which is the refinery’s historical database.
After initial planning in Maximo, more detailed planning is then completed in Primavera P7, Primavera is used to define critical information for refinery management. Resource curves, over all durations and critical activity pathway are some examples of the reports derived from Primavera.
Additionally to my primary role I am managing a project to introduce wireless mobile devices. These devices will be used during the turnaround event to improve efficiency in the way we update the turnaround schedule.
To manage this successfully I have engaged the onsite technical expertise of the software developers.
As my expertise is in the use of Primavera, working together we have been able to formulate a workable plan to roll out this project in a way that meets the needs of the turnaround department, and can be built on by the software department moving forward into the future. I believe this positions me well for “software implementation” as described in the job advertisement.
Throughout my 5 years using Primavera within the refinery I have gained quite a lot of experience and perspective for how the programme can be used in many different ways depending on the output required. As such I believe knowing the requirements of a project at the onset is critical to the successful use of primavera, and that then the attention to detail when entering information will produce a schedule that runs smoothly and also produces the required outputs.
Several times I have been a mentor for inexperienced planners and am currently on the refinery’s planning governance board, the details of which I report back to the turnaround team.
I have good experience in training people in the use of Primavera and this is a part of my job that I get a lot of satisfaction from.
Personally my family and I have been looking for work within Malaysia as we have other family living and working Kuala Lumpur. We visit the area often and enjoy the energy in this part of the world, so in application for this job I have the support of my family.
I look forward to hearing your favourable response.
