Dear Sir or Madam,
While undertaking research recently, I came across your job post.
Currently I am preparing to settle to the UK and actively looking for a suitable full time job in the country, where I can offer my skills and expertise. However I should inform you in advance that I am not eligible to work in the UK only for the coming couple of months. We have scheduled our marriage to August with my fiancée, who is an EU citizen and also has “indefinite leave to remain” status for the UK. Therefore I predict that by September I will have the automatic right to work in the EU and the UK. I assume that a potential employment process may last a couple of months anyways; therefore I still would like to take the opportunity to give you some details of my working experience. You can also find my CV as the attached document to the mail.
I have worked for five years as planning and cost control engineer, contract administrator, or construction chief on construction projects and as a project director on an R&D project in clean-tech sector. I have worked in Turkey, in Libya, and in London. Through my professional life, which is diverse through tasks of different competency and talent requirements, I frequently had to adopt and train myself for new responsibilities and changing environments. The combination of skills I earned through these different tasks, together with the theory of my engineering education, shaped me as a multi talented project management engineer.
At the present I am the Director for an R&D Program of Syn Dynamics GmbH. Syn Dynamics is in a Joint Venture with Queensland University of Technology (Australia) for a clean-tech project and as the freelance director of the Syn Dynamics, I am seeking and investigating public and private funding opportunities worldwide, in order to finance the development of the project.
I undertook (compulsory) military service in 2010, and was engaged as an Engineer Officer for the Turkish Armed Forces Construction Group. I served in Southeast of Turkey, in an active war zone and successfully supervised a vast construction project in a stressful environment. As the construction chief, I directed the actual application of the construction designs at the site and modified the designs is necessary. Moreover I executed the planning of the work and organization and management of the working teams. Furthermore I inspected and ensured the compatibility of the subcontractors’ works with the specifications of the project.
Prior to my military service I worked as a freelance consultant for a company, which was entering to Libya market. My main duties involved designing the time schedule and completing the resource planning for construction of road projects. My experience with Libya was previously enhanced while working for a Turkish based company, Metis, where I held the roles: 1) Planning and Cost Control Engineer, 2) Assistant to Contract Administrator. I started at the Planning and Cost Control Department. I prepared work programs, resource planning and budgets for Railroad Bridge, Dam, Pump Station, Pipeline and road projects. I was responsible for the monitoring and the coordination of the work plan with sites and the coordination of the project budgets with the finance department. Following I moved to the position assistant to contract administrator. Initially in Libya, in order to strengthen the company’s contractual position on different issues regarding a contract, I worked to define and clarify all actions, strategies and precautions, which were applied to contractual problems. While in Ankara, I evaluated the potential risks for all upstream and downstream contracts of the company and ensured that correspondence to other parties was promptly undertaken.
In clean-technologies sector, I worked as R&D program manager in Turkey and the UK and involved in both technical and commercial aspects of technology development. In Turkey, I was a part of the team, which introduced an alternative method for synthetic gas production. As the project director, my work involved laboratory management and scientific research. My team has studied the theory, founded a small laboratory and constructed and ran a test cell. Following the program was moved to London for performing the ‘proof of efficiency’ tests. In London, I set a team to; design, engineer, construct and test a reactor in order to gather and study the relevant parameters impacting the efficiency of the technology. During this experience I faced the challenge for managing the highly uncertain progress of R&D projects.
I believe that I have mentioned the entire basis for my desire and I respectfully request the decision maker to consider all these motivations as positive grounds to issue my application. Thank you in advance for your consideration and for facilitating my application. I look forward to hearing your response.
Yours faithfully
M. Alper YIGIT, CE, MSc
