I have attached my resume, and drafted a brief summary of key employment assignments and responsibilities below.
A permanent resident of Canada, I am a degree educated lead planner with PCM and planning manager experience. I have over 30 years in the Oil, Gas, Petrochemical, Nuclear and Offshore Construction Industries. At the start of my career I served an indentured apprenticeship as a pipefitter/welder giving me over 10 years of hands-on construction experience in Oil, Gas, Petrochemical, Nuclear and Offshore Industries.
I am currently on a site assignment at Fort Hills, employed as a Lead Construction Planner for Fluor Canada. I left Jacobs Canada directly to join the team here at site in May of 2015. Fort Hills is a green field mineable oil sands project, approximately 90 km north of Fort McMurray, consisting of an Oil Sands Mine and a Bitumen Production Facility. The Bitumen Production Facility consists of five major work areas including: Ore Preparation Plant (OPP), Extraction and Tailings (E&T), Secondary Extraction (SE), Utilities and Offsites (U&O) and Infrastructure. Fort Hills will be capable of producing bitumen from oil sands at a nominal production rate of 180,000 bbls/cd.
I joined Jacobs Canada in October 2012 to work on Shell T&I, Fort McMurray, Modules Program in a lead planning position and subsequently acting PCM. The Module Program (Tailings and Infrastructure project) provided modules to multiple Shell projects; CSL – Conditioning Slurry Line Extension (Muskeg River Mine); CST – Coarse Sands Tailings Line Twinning (Jackpine Mine); SC2- Sand Cell 2 (Jackpine Mine). Effectively servicing multiple projects as opposed to each project duplicating the same tasks (design, procure, build) for their required modules.
Responsible for project controls cost & schedule. Personally developing baseline EPC schedules, incorporating sub-contractors detailed schedules. Provide variance analyses of schedule & cost with suggested mitigation measures. Audit contractor’s schedules, performance and processes. Produce monthly cost reports including updates to the current budget, commitments, value of work done, expenditures and forecast at completion.
To join Jacobs I left a position with CB&I, based in Paddington, London. Working as a senior/project planner on Feasibility study and FEED on the Yamal LNG Project. This is an integrated natural gas liquefaction complex with a capacity of 16.5 million tonnes per year. Consists of the production, treatment, liquefaction and shipping of natural gas and stabilised condensate from the Yamal Peninsula to the end consumers. The facilities to be developed include production drilling, wellheads, gas gathering, flow-lines, inlet facilities, gas treatment, liquefaction, storage, loading, utilities, marine port, shipping, infrastructure including accommodation and support facilities.
Prior to this I spent the past 5 years working with Shaw Stone & Webster (SSW) as a senior project planner, initially to develop a construction schedule for a Ethyl Benzene Styrene Monomer plant in Kuwait, followed by a number of FEED projects, plant relocation (Holland to Afghanistan) and hourly shut down schedules along with associated progress monitoring systems.
Some 14 months prior to leaving SSW I was involved in a project for a feasibility study and FEED phase for two new grassroots refineries in Iraq. Acting as lead planner developing the contract schedule and progress measurement system, to be executed across offices in Toronto, Houston, Mumbai and managed out of the Milton Keynes office. Simultaneously developing 2 detailed shutdown schedules on a ethylene plant in Qatar, involving a site visit to ‘walk the scope’ and address constructability issues. The shutdown included replacing 10 existing furnaces with 6 new and the associated expansion work for increased output, including replacing 2 existing compressors and a new cracked gas compressor.
Prior to this assignment I worked for LaingOrourke on-site as senior construction planner on the high profile Langeled Gas Receiving Facility project, brought in on time and on budget. This facility received a sub-sea gas pipe line (longest in the world) from Norway supplying 20% of the UK's gas. Site based, I was responsible for developing the construction schedule and EV progress monitoring system.
