Spider Project Tutor

Hi all,

I need a Spider Project Professional Tutor for me, to teach this software from basics to advance. I am a Planning Engineer in UAE, presently working on Primavera P6. I read about Spider Project and this seems to be the best software, I also tried using the Demo Version and found it interesting.

I was looking for a tutor in UAE preferably in Dubai who could train/teach me this software. If not in UAE then maybe online.

You can contact me at [email protected] if interested and we will discuss further.

Spider Project Wikipedia article is created

E
Evgeny Z. 👤 Member for 18 years 4 months

Dear all,

I wanted to try to write a Wikipedia article for quite a while, and I decided to start with Spider Project.

It took me 2 months to have it reviewed and approved, but now it is finally formally published.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spider_Project_(software)

This is a bit shorter version, than the original submitted for approval, but the 1st one has been rejected with the statement "it reads more like an advertisement".

NTL constraint does not work always

E
Evgeny Z. 👤 Member for 18 years 4 months

Vladimir,

whilst I was looking at the subject of exceptions, I noticed, that my favorite NLT constraint  does not always work as I would expect it to.

In the example below you will notice, that in the 2nd case it does not work, because the activity with NLT constraint is put in a separate phase

Is it an expected behavior?

Do not resource level flag / Must Start On constraint.

E
Evgeny Z. 👤 Member for 18 years 4 months

Dear all,

I still sort of feel that for my applications it would be difficult to work  with Spider without a feature  to make certain tasks so high priority, that resource leveling cannot move them at all. So, something like “do not resource level” flag or may be even Must Start On constraint.

In case several of such activities create a resource conflict, which Spider cannot resolve, I would want it to give an error message.

Interproject link disappears upon Activity code change

E
Evgeny Z. 👤 Member for 18 years 4 months

Dear all,

another question regarding portfolios. I noticed, that if I change the code of activity to which there was an inter project link, then this link will simply disappear from the portfolio without any warning upon the next portfolio consolidation.

I understand the reason, where is is coming from, but since activity code change seems not to be something prohibited in Spider, this looks to be quite a risky situation to lose the interproject links.

Is this an expected behavior?

Regards.

Evgeny

Norm field/column in SP

Mr Rafael,

In almost my projects, I've used Norm (hours per 1 unit) more than using Productivity (units per 1 hour). Norm and Productivity are same essence, just an inverse of each other. So, how can I get it in SP. I tried formula in "new field", but still couldn't find Productivity field in it.

Thanks & Best Regards,

Working with portfolios

E
Evgeny Z. 👤 Member for 18 years 4 months

Dear all,

I have a couple of questions regarding working with Portfolio

Q1: I still don’t understand what exactly the action "Update Portfolio" does. I tried to invoke it when the schedule of the project included in portfolio has changed, but it did not have any effect, portfolio was still showing old version after I did Update Portfolio =>New version.

Note: Consolidate/Distribute seems to be working as expected.

Table reports

E
Evgeny Z. 👤 Member for 18 years 4 months

Dear all,

I am just looking at the table reports and have the following question, regarding the below example of a schedule and a Resource-Hours report:

1) Question 1: in the below example of the report what is exactly Object and and what is Parameter?

2) Question 2 : how do I get rid of the resource being mentioned at the lowest level (I marked it in red) ?
