PROJECT CONTROLS is too close to PROJECT MANAGEMENT?

Here's a question: Project Controls or Project Management ? 

It does pain us to say this but... read on to confirm in your mind why the Guild of Project Controls is a GREAT IDEA....

Your Guild received a letter from a well-known PROJECT MANAGEMENT ORGANISATION... 

The letter citied that 'GPC Bok' could easily be misunderstood - i.e. 'PROJECT CONTROLS 'is too close to 'PROJECT MANAGEMENT'.... in terms of meaning... 

...and therefore the term 'BoK' has to be removed from ALL our documentation.... as it infringes their intelectual property.

NOW, Firstly, we agreed to do this...

Secondly, it made us more determined than ever to work with YOUR GUILD to acknowledge a profession which exists though many seek to 'muddy the waters' by trying spin-off initiatives to accommodate Project Controls as their very name ensures a difficulty in doing so...

We would like ideas from you; our members as to an alternative name for Our Standards.....many like the term 'Handbook' ?

Some being of the opinion there are many BoK's out there and a different name helps our cause... ideas please - FREE LIFETIME Guild Membership to the winner...

HOWEVER...

There is no getting away from the real message here - namely 'Project Controls' is not sufficiently different to 'Project Management' - we know this is not the case - support your Guild, join us and together we WILL go on the journey of establishing OUR PROFESSION IN ITS' OWN RIGHT.
