Dear Planning Planet Members,

We have our first Guild update - from our Regional Executive Scotland, Mark Gillespie

A few weeks ago, there was a meeting at the offices of SSE in Glasgow.

Establishment of the Scottish Region will act as a template for others around the globe and we will publish regular reports from Mark as he lays the foundations for the Scottish Region.

OVER TO MARK...

I think it only fitting and correct that in my first report that I thank Theo d’Orgee & James Williams for all the hard work and dedication it has taken to make the Guild of Project Controls a reality.

They and others have invested a lot of time and sleepless nights in pulling the detail of this Guild together. A job well done, we now have a live Guild.

The opportunity we all have is to make the Guild a success in all regions across the planet...

"A Centre of Excellence for Planning & Scheduling, Cost Management, Forensic Analysis & Project Controls in general."  What appeals to me is this Guild is to be “RUN BY leading Planners & Project Controls PROFESSIONALS” and "RUN FOR Planners & Project Controls PROFESSIONALS".

It will bring a standard across the globe which is supported by only the very best practitioners or those wishing to become so!

We in Scotland held the first Regional Executive meeting last month. It was attended by a cross - industries group representing Oil & GasDefenceUtilitiesControls Consultancies and the University of Strathclyde.

We gave a good introduction presentation to the meeting, which set the scene for the next steps in Scotland. As with any good plan we will have to articulate a detailed scope and set out the vision for the next 2 years. One of the key areas will be to set up and establish of centres of excellence that will be the 'corner stone' of the Guild in Scotland. These will provide mentors, training and support to its members across Scotland. We will need further support to continue the momentum of the Guild and make this a big success.

A lot of work is to be done, so any support and ideas will be welcome.

Please contact[email protected] to get involved - either to help me run the Region OR join The Guild OR be involved as a FOUNDING Corporate Sponsor.

Thank you.

Mark Gillespie
