Many of you know that a substantial number of our current 56,000+ members are self-employed – to be expected; this is after all a reflection of our industry!
In our estimate 55% of our members are contract–based employees and we have been somewhat in a quandary as to how - in our usual style - we could help this group of our community UNTIL NOW.
In these troubled times many employers are reluctant to utilise contract-staff but the fact is in many cases, the experience and just plain knowledge of this group ensures whatever the misgivings may be, contract-staff are imperative additions to many projects and it will (likely?) always be so!
With The Guild of Project Controls initiative we have seen firstly how many of our contract-staff members contribute quality input to our standards and secondly the reaction of employers to recruiting proven quality staff: it is a fact that for many contractors their rates and their yet to be proven qualities deter many employers from the contract market.
There is more too… usually a 'third party' is also involved that requires a hefty margin to be taken from the daily-rate being offered by the employer - the result being that the cost to the employer increases and the daily-rate left over for the contractor reduces. Over the years PP has been asked by members to help them – after all, with our member numbers we are in a unique position so to do… it does though take time and time is…
We think we can fix this market-strain and introduce a win-win...
- the employer pays less and the contractor receives more (if you can't work that one out let us know!)
So, we have an offer to you our contract-staff freelancers...
- Forget covering that margin: let us represent you and find employers for you; if an employer is offering
- Be available for a much more competitive rate we are big enough to be able to do this and
- Through our Guild Corporate sponsorship efforts and of course, general membership that includes an employer community too we have access to the people who will employ you!!
So, we are proud to announce ‘PP Freelance’ it is very simple and we are confident of success!!
- Send a full CV in to [email protected] and we will log it in the pages of PP in a summary format only after gaining your approval; you will NOT be named, your contact details will NOT be available and we will NOT pass your CV to anyone until and unless we have specifically asked you for your permission to do so.
- State your many and varied talents;
- State your availability date, your rate-required and how keen you are to find a new contract;
- State any organisations that you do not wish to be involved with!
We will send you feedback so that together we can ensure success. We can also market individuals in regular global or targetted newsletters.
PP will charge your Limited Company just £10.00 per month for this service, or £100.00 per annum. However, the first subscribers will recieve at least a year free.
You are now therefore able to offer your services at a much more competitive rate; no more third-party taking a cut from the rate the employer is expecting to pay! Imagine if you were to receive the full daily-rate that the employer is willing to pay for the role; sounds logical, but it's not the way the contract / freelance market works now!!
