THE GUILD OF PROJECT CONTROLS (GPC)...

Foreword (provided by the Guild Management)...

We have again dedicated this newsletter to the Phase 2 launch of the GPC and the upcoming Project Challenge event being held in London on the 21st & 22nd March.

Planning Planet is one of the main sponsors of the Project Challenge and lucky for us one of the main sponsors of the Guild. With this in mind we felt it appropriate to launch the start of Phase 2 at this event.

 DAY 1: 21st MARCH 201

Here is a brief summary of some of the Day 1 presentations:

  • KEY NOTE: Chris Carson our esteemed Guild Senator and thought leader - to the world will be announcing some Guild Standards of Practice in Planning and Forensics; all delivered in Chris' famously entertaining and educational manner - he's on first under 'Guild key-note' - don't miss it!
  • Richard Palczynski - Head of Programme Services, Major Programmes and Projects at Parsons Brinkerhoff will talk about the role of Project Controls at Parsons and why they have recently decided to sponsor the Guild.  What benefits do Parsons see from the liaison?
  • Patrick Kennerson - our Senator from Mott MacDonald will once again be talking about Planning and Controls under the context of Mott MacDonald... Patrick is an innovator, extremely knowledgeable and is always heavily involved in bids... will he let slip some secrets? A very popular presenter from last year.
  • Will Bentley - Head of Project Controls for Atkins Global and new to our community - how do Atkins view project controls?  Is this function key to their success? How? Will is meeting our community for the first time.  Attend his presentation which we know will be very enlightening.
  • Guild Members - will talk about progress so far immediate objectives and some concrete plans... have your say it is your Guild.

We are expecting another high profile speaker - they are all busy people and trying to find time in a busy schedule is difficult!

 DAY 2: 22nd MARCH 2012

Here is a brief summary of some of the Day 2 presentations:

  • KEY NOTE: Andy Mitchell - Programme Director of Crossrail we are hugely delighted to host Andy - director of arguably Europes' largest project to talk about the role of Project Controls in Crossrail.  Having a planning background himself, Andy is very well qualified to educate us all; come and listen to an extremely knowledgeable speaker with a unique perspective.
  • Paul Bamforth - Managing Director of Asta Development one of our successful trade partners.  Paul is an accomplished speaker and promises a different perspective - the vendors see it all!
  • David Philp - Head of BIM Implementation at the UK Cabinet Office David knows BIM inside and out and is a new recruit to the Guild - for many this subject is taboo - form your opinion after this presentation.

FINALLY

  • We wish to hold a discussion in the afternoon; Chris Carson and the Founder of Planning Planet James Williams will amongst others, chair this session... come and ask the questions or promote the ideas you have... we can all make it happen as a team!!

Planning Planet would like to thank the above speakers who have given up their valuable time to speak at this event... we think they are a great selection of speakers - come and support them and Register at Project Challenge - there's a lot to see and hear!
