This is a unique opportunity to pay a key role in the Great Western Route Modernisation Programme - the biggest investment in Britain’s railway since it was built by Brunel. This multi-faceted programme spans everything from route electrification, through to significant projects including re-modelling and infrastructure works at Bristol and Oxford. Better rail experiences are just the beginning of the changes that will result from faster, more reliable services, more seats, better stations and more freight trains. As well as improving connectivity across the South West, the programme will be instrumental in stimulating economic growth across the region and beyond.

Joining our forward-thinking, driven Infrastructure Projects division, you’ll lead the planning function within a project team, ensuring quality and consistency in all planning and reporting activities. It’s sure to be an unrivalled experience. Providing leadership, guidance and direction in respect of planning processes, while championing quality and maintaining interdependencies, you’ll enjoy significant scope to enhance your knowledge and skills. As you develop and progress project plans and schedules, communication will be key to your success - from ensuring stakeholders are aware of their responsibilities, to providing expert support.
We’ll expect you to be a team player with a flair for clear, engaging and persuasive communication at all levels. You’ll bring to the role proven IT skills, including use of planning and scheduling software, plus project resource management expertise. Specific, successful experience in managing, planning and delivering major construction/engineering projects is essential. If you’re not a member of a relevant professional body, you’ll be eligible to attain membership. Ideally, you’ll also have UK rail industry experience.
