Planning Manager / Senior Planning Manager / Regional Planning Manager – Permanent – Construction – Main Contractor – Salary up to £80,000 + package.
This position is for a leading UK main contractor that works on projects across the construction, civils, utilities, airports and rail industries. Their construction planning team is one of the busiest in the UK and is spread out across 12 offices. They have a secured pipeline of work for the next 5 years on projects that include warehouses, commercial buildings, retail developments, leisure centres, schools, student living spaces, universities, pharmaceutical facilities and care homes. Each planner is expected to work on both tenders and site jobs and the software in use is Asta Powerproject. To keep workloads high the teams tend to focus on project values of between £5 million and £85 million.

This role is for an experienced, senior manager to take over a good sized team split out between a number of offices around the South of England.
The key duties would include:
- Recruitment
- Team Management
- Team growth and mentoring
- Pushing the team group culture and atmosphere
- Hands on involvement with tender and site planning
- Assistance with making core business decisions
- Development and delivering of training
- Overseeing work within the team
- Promotion of Project Controls
- South East travel
- Work allocation
Candidate requirements:
- A solid UK main contractor planning background with at least 8 years construction experience
- A relevant degree or masters qualification desired but not essential
- Will be a strong competent user of Asta Powerproject software
- Will have a minimum of 4 years planning management experience in a similar role
- Will have lead teams of at least 5 planners previously, this is an essential requirement
- Project management experience is desired but not essential
- Will have a good background doing both tender and site planning
- A hands on management style, will be very personable and gain motivation from progressing and developing others
- A background in giving training to both planners and people who work outside of planning to promote the importance of planning and controls
- Solid project controls experience
- A full UK driving licence is ESSENTIAL
- Will be eligible to live and work in the UK
This role offers high levels of career progression; the next steps would be to move into either a Preconstruction Manager or UK Head of Planning role.
