My client is looking to recruit a Senior Planner responsible for the accurate updating and management of the programmes in accordance with company procedure, along with the distribution of said programme outputs as directed by the Planning Manager. Other benefits include 27 days annual leave, 12 B&P holidays, 35 hour week, eligibility to participate in the company pension scheme with rates of 7.5% contributed by both employee and employer. The role is based within the tendering and estimating department and therefore experience in working on tenders would be an advantage.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES OR MAIN TASKS
- The production of resource/cost loaded project programmes in clients preferred software.
- To manage direct reports, monitor their progression and hold reviews in accordance to company policy.
- To keep programmes updated and reviewed with the project team on a weekly basis in line with company procedure.
- To ensure collation of information from Tender Manager, tender team and other relevant sources to produce fully resource/cost loaded tender and project plans within the timescales specified to current company policy.
- To hold/attend weekly reviews with the project teams to monitor progress on the programme, circulating work-to-lists and action or recovery plans as required, and to provide look ahead information.
- To provide weekly upon each update reports e.g. value earned, milestone adherence, summation curves, CPI, SPI (not limited to).
- To work with the commercial and financial teams to accurately state the financial status of the project to the required level on the programme and to ensure the accuracy of the programme forecast for use in the client application and the CVR.
- To collate using data from the planning software short, medium and long term resource plans for the division, ensuring the correct roles and/or resources are used from the library within the planning software and that highlight any issues accordingly.
- To supply any required information and support the Planning Manager in preparing monthly status reports or as directed.
- To progress the Company in the implementation and development of its Primavera and IFS products, ensuring use in compliance with company policy.
- To deputise for Planning Manager in relation to any planning matters in his/her assigned area or as directed.
- To ensure adherence to laid down procedures for possession management and timely possession implementation.

PERSON SPECIFICATION
- Qualifications
- Essential:
- Minimum Degree or HND in an appropriate engineering discipline for the rail environment or equivalent experience.
- In depth knowledge of project planning software applications, principally Primavera P3e. SureTrak, MSProject and/or Methodology Manager knowledge an advantage.
- Ideal:
- Ideally 3-5 years experience of project planning within an engineering environment.
- Ideally has experience in the rail industry
