Planning Manager, Civils - Reading
Planning Manager is currently required by a major main contracting business to join their civil engineering. The company has a very strong reputation for their work and for their history of delivering complex civil engineering projects. The Planning Manager will lead the planning function on a major infrastructure project based in Reading which is one of the most significant railway upgrade schemes currently being undertaken.
Responsibilities
- Establish construction outputs and agree working hours with appropriate Estimator.
- Prepare and or develop tender programme, issue to all parties for review and implement recommendations, innovations and best practice as applicable.
- Identify planning scope and major constraints and requirements.
- Establish key methods of construction, installation and commissioning.
- Identify major quantities and factors, which add to the tender chances of success.
- Reconcile company and sub-contract plant/labour and major materials elements in conjunction with appropriate estimator.
- Monitoring progress during construction, re-programming if required.
- Preparation of submission documents.
- Apply resource levelling techniques as necessary.
- Preparation of compensation event programmes and narrative.
- Interface with third parties to identify and resolve issues.
- Presentation/dissemination of planning/programming philosophy.
Requirements
- Good understanding of various forms of tender documents, contract documents and specifications.
- Good understanding of various methods of planning, programming and progress monitoring.
- Good understanding of risk and opportunity management with particular reference to planning/programming.
- Good understanding of the events that initiate, and of the methods used to demonstrate, compensation event entitlement.
- Good understanding of the construction market, methods of construction, plant, equipment and labour requirements.
- Relevant CSCS Card.
