Lead Estimator – Montreal, Canada

Gold Group Ltd is currently partnering a global EPCM organization that employs circa 10,000 people for their operations worldwide working within specialist sectors including mining, minerals, infrastructure, transportation and energy sectors to appoint a Lead Estimator for their operations in Montreal.

My client is currently seeking a Lead Estimator with underground mining experience to lead and mentor a team based in Montreal. The Lead Estimator will need to have a strong track record of working within a first principle estimating environment, ideally on large multi-discipline projects in an EPCM and Mining environment throughout various classes of estimate.

Responsibilities

·        Develop the estimate plan in line with the overall project estimating strategy.

·        Register the project estimate in the global estimating registry system

·        Input to the project schedule with particular reference to estimating timeframe

·        Confirmation of estimating deliverables including, but not less than, estimate structure & format, reports etc.

·        Monitoring conformance to the project schedule in terms of project deliverables to estimating and instigating necessary corrective action.

·        Regular monitoring of progress with the estimator(s) along with detailed guidance and input where necessary.

·        Mentor estimators as required.

·        Attendance at Project Progress Meetings.

·        Developing the estimate basis.

·        Assembling relevant estimate benchmark data.

·        Leading the estimate review process.

·        Definition of and input into the Gate Release documentation.

·        Takes overall responsibility for delivery of the capital cost estimate of the project.

 

The Lead Estimator will need to be able to demonstrate the ability to give direction to co-ordinate activities across a number of projects, a strong ability to define, review and communicate appropriate best practices, an advanced knowledge of risk and uncertainty management, a good level of site experience and analytical / problem assessment capability.
