Senior Planning Engineer – London – Rail
Senior Planning Engineer is required by a leading main contractor that is heavily involved in the delivery of mechanical and electrical projects within the UK’s rail market. Based in Central London the Senior Planner will be responsible for tender and contract planning of some of London’s most major rail and underground projects.
The Senior Planning Engineer will report into the Planning Manager and they will be accountable for the following:
Arrange and facilitate internal integrated planning meetings with relevant project personnel to agree the team input into the project plan.
- Work closely with the client in order to agree a ‘Contract Baseline’ programme for each allocated project that aligns with the agreed contract and associated price
- Represent appropriately within the project plans the clients project lifecycles (i.e. GRIP, LUL 1/538, RIBA design development) any other design related constraints relative to the project
- Implement the standards for appropriate client Programme Control Management Standards (NR, LUL MPD systems etc)
- Work interactively with Estimating department at Tender stage in order to ensure alignment of Tender costs/resources and the developed programme. Use this information to Resource and Cost load each Project Plan for Resource/Cost management reports such as Histograms and Cash Flow forecasts etc
- Work interactively with project QS for inclusion of variations into the project plan with adjusted cost/resource in order to identify and communicate effects of change in a timely manner to the project team
- Produce the agreed reports in line with both client/internal requirements such as Dashboard, Earned Value, Productivity, Histograms, Baseline Variance and 3 week look ahead reports
- Perform Time-Risk analysis against the programme at regular intervals within the project lifecycle, in line with the Project Risk register
Candidates will need to be able to demonstrate the following skills and experience to be considered for this opportunity.
· Minimum 5 years planning experience with exposure to tender and contract planning.
· Experience of UK rail and underground projects and Network Rail procedures.
· Strong user of Primavera P6.
· Posses very strong communications skills.
· Strong Mechanical & Electrical experience.
