P6 Planning Engineer, Permanent, 2 – 6 years’ experience, Primavera P6, South East, Salary £32-45k + package.
My client is a privately owned consultancy providing professional services and expert cost and project control capabilities for the delivery of major international construction programmes. Founded in the 80’s they now manage a portfolio of international engineering programmes worth over four billion pounds per year on behalf of private and public sector clients across the energy transmission, power generation, water, defence, aerospace and transport sectors from its offices in the UK, South Africa and the United Arab Emirates.
At present they are working on a 5 year framework with the National Grid to upgrade old and install new security measures to over 100 gas and electrical sites around the UK as part of a scheme to improve security against terrorism. My client is managing the handful of leading main contractors working on each site and has a large and successful planning team in place to make sure that each site runs smoothly and is delivered on time and on budget. Their chosen tool is Primavera. This framework is defence/civils orientated.
The role:
- Planning & programming
- Managing of 3-5 sites at any one time
- Travel from site to site
- Implementation of Primavera P6
- Updating and creating programmes
- Earned Value Analysis/Management (EVA)
- Client liaison and monitoring
- Mentoring of graduate planners
Candidate specification:
- Minimum of 2 years planning experience
- A knowledge, understanding and experience using Primavera P6
- Must have held a UK passport for a minimum of 5 years and have a clean criminal record as this role requires Security Clearance at SC level. Applicants who do not hold a UK passport will not be considered
- Site based planning experience
- Programming background
- Full UK driving licence is essential
- Must be able to drive manual cars as site Landrovers are manual
- Good communication skills and the confidence to present to clients where necessary
- Must have a high drive to succeed
- Defence experience is NOT essential
