An opportunity is available for an experienced planner to work on a number of rail infrastructure projects within a high value programme of works.

Duties

·         Plan and manage complex and long term projects with many participants and stakeholders.

·         Manage contracts, budgets and costs, independently and provide reports to manager, and to apply commercial and risk management principles and processes at a project level.

·         High level conceptual and analytical skills, with a demonstrated ability to analyse complex issues and to solve difficult problems on a regular basis, identifying causes and offering alternative solutions.

·         Strong listening and communication skills with an ability to relate to people from a wide range of positions and backgrounds.

·         Capacity to handle high stress environments with resilience and professionalism.

·         Develop a high level understanding of client expectations and form and maintain positive relationships.

·         Delegate a variety of tasks to appropriate staff and manage their progress.

·         Knowledge of risk management processes and practices, and the ability to apply these principles on multiple projects.

·         Ability to solve difficult technical problems on a regular basis, identifying causes and offering alternative solutions.

 

Knowledge Requirements

·         Principles, practices, operations, services and activities of a comprehensive infrastructure engineering program.

·         Principles and practices of contract and construction management including translating construction requirements into schedules, risk management, project scheduling and management, program development and administration, resourcing, budget preparation and administration.

·         Sound understanding of the requirements of working in brown field sites in live rail corridors.

 

·         Knowledge of legislation, policy, processes and practices involved in planning and delivering major rail and civil infrastructure projects.
