Planning Manager – New Build & Construction - Surrey

My client is a leading UK Main Contractor and due to an increase in workloads they have an opportunity for a Planning Manager to join their business to help strengthen their planning capabilities. On offer is a basic salary of up to £66,000 per annum plus an attractive benefits package which comprises of car or car allowance, pension, healthcare etc.

The opportunity is based in Surrey and the role will be report into the Regional Planning Manager. The Planning Manager will be responsible for providing a planning and programming service at both pre-construction and construction stages of projects and in addition they will be responsible for the leadership and management of planning resources on a portfolio of projects valued up to £50m that are primarily commercial, education and office development construction projects based in London and the South East.

 

Duties

  • Preparation of time and method sections of pre-qualification documents and attend interviews and presentations as appropriate.
  • Preparation and presentation of robust tender programmes and method statements, fully integrating design, procurement and construction. Assessment of time-related preliminaries costs. 
  • Development of a realistic Contract programme with the site teams, supported by relevant narrative, Information Release Schedules and other support documents necessary to gain the Client’s approval.
  • Development with the site teams of achievable Target and short-term look-ahead programmes. Liaise with Supply Chain members as appropriate.
  • Establishment and monitoring of Project Controls, such as Key Performance Indicators, simple Earned Value measurements and Critical milestones.
  • Ensure that accurate progress records are maintained and appropriate delay notices raised, to support EOT issues.
  • Carrying out peer reviews and programme audits.
  • Investigate and act as a champion for construction innovation, establishing opportunities for incorporation of modularisation wherever possible.
  • Managing, mentoring and supporting junior planning staff and overseeing their career development.

Candidates

  • Minimum of 7 years planning experience on New Build & Construction projects.
  • Previous experience of structures, commercial, refurbishment, residential and fitting out works.
  • Experience within a Main Contractor environment.
  • Strong knowledge of Asta Powerproject
  • Knowledge of relevant forms of contract, including JCT and NEC. 
  • HND or Degree preferred
  • Good presentation skills.
