We are urgently looking for a permanent Project/Programme Controller with solid planning skills to support a successful UK Consultancy. This role is to support a key Client in the  Defence sector, so candidates should ideally have current or recent security clearance.

Main duties will include:

  • The creation of the initial Programme Plan which will include all deliverable Milestones, Internal Milestones, and any other features required to be delivered by the Programme.
  • Generate, maintain and monitor the progress of Work Packages released to support Programme execution
  • Update commercial and budgetary information with actual, and analyse cost variation(s). Initiate decision-making to maintain or improve position for updated financial ETC’s
  • Update resource information held with actual, and analyse resource application variation(s). Initiate decision-making to maintain or improve position for updated Resource Profiles
  • Provide expert support to the Programme Manager and the programme team for Earned Value Management analysis, and its’ application to managing programme execution activity
  • Actively assess and maintain the Programme Risk and Opportunity Registers for the monthly Schedule update and by adhoc reviews.

Validate the derived Resource Profiles accrued during the Monthly Schedule Update Process and ensure the validated data is available.

 

Preferred skills –

Good understanding of Planning and Project Control processes including Change Control, Risk Management, Information Management and Handover.

Experience of project life cycles for Aerospace Development / Support / Prime Contract Management Programmes, or relevant military or civil aviation background

Hands-on working knowledge and application of scheduling tools including MS Project and Primavera.

Excellent understanding of generic processes and techniques used to schedule project activities e.g. WBS, OBS, milestones, dependencies & CSF, project network, float, critical path, forward & backward pass calculations.

Working knowledge of Earned Value Management and the demands that EV reporting places on the Master Schedule.

Experience of carrying out detailed investigation of cost variance(s) and publishing of financial information directly into Company financial reports.
