Hi Mary Jo check your email you should have an email with my email address in. Send me an email from this.
As to how to pp (private mesage) Next to my Name (Or any other )is a little envelope click on it and you send a short note to me (The person) the problem is you can not attache a File
No one will not overwrite 2 because remember you apply different filters to them. (Filter 1 = Actualy Complete) Filter 2 In Progress.
% Complete (If % & RDU is Linked) will be up to data Date. Remember P3 Schedule your Current schedule (Recalculate your schedule). And your baseline is in a Target Schedule.
Cheers
If you want PP me your email and I can send you an XL file with Pictures
- As per your suggestions, it does appear that there is a possibility to show all progress upto Data date line for all -in progress activities. The idea here is to show actual % complete - it could be less than as required on data date.
Any suggestions ?

It Takes you Five Minutes and you save the Layout. (Rememeber you use Global Change to do the date MODS once You have done it then in Future you Just Transfer it. (You don do it per Activity.)
PP me your email address and I will send you an Detail Explanition (With Pictures (Print SCreen) in xls)
You are absolutely right (and i fully agree with you) this requirement to have % Complete as a seperate bar BELOW the activity bar and not within the activity bar is purely an aesthetic need by a Non-technical person sitting in the chair of the BOSS.
An excuse like Software limitation is out of their disctionary.
The Custom bar option is too time consuming and difficult to implement for bigger schedules.
Does anybody have other ideas ??
I use P3 (not P3e).
Thank you

This Function does actualy not make sense because in P3 Progress is between your actual start & DATA Date. (Schedule). IN MS it does not work this way except.
MAKE A COPY FIRST
But How to fix this (if you insist)
1) Make Two Global Changes.
1.1 = Make all completed activity
Planned Start = Actual Start
Planned Finish = Actual Finish
1.2) Make all Activity in Progress
Planned Start = Actual Start
Planned Finish = Data Date
2) Then you Create a bar Move it to Desired Position Make Start = PLST Make Finish = PLFN
And you have your second Progress Line
Then all you need to do is play with the Bars (Size & Position) until you have the required effect.
I hope this helps. (I Still think It Does not Make sense)
If you are working on P3, it doesnt have this option as the structure is fixed and defined for bars with dates (start & finish). What you can do only is to label below the activity bar with %.
However in P3e, this option is available and you can do it easily in the bar feature.

HELLO FRIEND I AM MILIND
WHAT TYPE OF DOUBT U FOUNF IN PROGRESS CANTROL
U CAN COMPARE THE % COMPLITION IN PRIMAVERA P3
MAKE A CDI(COSTUM DATA ITEM) FOR EG PPC(pLAANNED % cOMPLETE) IN ACTIVITY COSTUM DATA
FOR / IN URS CURRENT PROJECT
GO FOR GLOBAL CHANGE
MAKE 3 GLOBAL CHANGES Tar 1 is urs Baseline program
1)PPC= 0 %
URS FORMULA IS
IF DD(Data Date) is less than T1ES (Target1 ES)
then PPC =0
2) PPC =100 %
IF DD IS Grater than T1EF (Target 1 EF )
Then ppc =100
3 If DD is Grater than TAR1 ES
& DD is Less than TAR1EF
(make &Q1 ,&Q2 to variable)
Then &Q1 = DD - TAR1 ES
&Q2 = &Q1 / T1OD ( tar 1 orignal duration)
PPC = &Q1 *100
After running all 3 sets of global change u will deffinatelty get the planned percentage complition at centen data date
or it is the estimated percentage comption to the baseline project
then u can campare the progress of the current project
with baseline Planned percentage complition
or mail me pandhare_milind@yahoo.co.in
i will explain u in brif how to do this in primavera

Well just to Close this Thread and publish the Answer to all the Unbelievers.
Step 1 = Assign a Target Schedule
Step 2 = Format Bars (Delete All Existing Bars)
Step 3 = Create 2 New target Early bars (Position 1 & Poistion 2)
Step 4 = Bar 1 Remove Progress / Criticcal etc
Step 5 = Bar 2 Make Colour White & Show Progress
Step 6 = Show Progress By % Complete
And you have two bars just like MS.
If you want a Status Line (Go Out and Buy yourelf a Ruler/stencil/Pen)
Cheers
