As I stated if you use that option "Display Summary indiviual bar will look very untidy. and its all over the place. Better stick with the organise view.
My observation was wrong. You can do it exactly what you want provided no overlapping of activities otherwise Summary bar will split into many bars at different level.
I tried your example. 4th floor activites Blockwork, Plaster and Painting Works. Format all three activity bars with 3 different colors. Then summarize at 4th floor I got Summary bar with 3 different color showing respective durations for each activity.
But when Plaster overlapped with Blockwork than Summary bar splitted into 3 bars at aligned at different level but showing activity duration and colour.
I followed this sequence Format>Summary Bars>Individual bar(any option).
Cheers.

Leave me your email id, or send a message to plannerdaya@yahoo.com i will send the screen shot of P3(Out put).
What i did, i followed your suggestion in the settings for the individual bar and summarized at higher level(after applying code values), the higher level will show summary of different individual bars of same group of course aligned in the same level but with different colors.
Cheers!!!

I will explain my requirement with a detailed example,
Suppose I have a multi-story building program, organized by floors. Under each floor, say I have 3 activities, Blockwork, plaster and paint. Say the activities names are 4th floor Blockwork, 4th floor plaster, 4th floor paint. Each of these activities are coded with an activity code called "ITEM" which has code values Block, plaster and paint.
What I need to see is, when I summarize the program by floor, the summary bar for the 4th floor should have colours alligned side by side according to the code values, like suppose if blockwork works from day 1 to day 10, plaster works from 11 to 25 and paint from 26 to 30, I would like to see a red colour from day 1 to day 10, blue colour from day 11 to day 25 and green colour from 26 to 30 on the summary bar.
I think I got it, but it looks well only if we dont have overlapping activities.
Rajeev, I got your question now. Yes it is possible to display different colors for the same type of summarised activities.
for example,
If you apply pattern color for Area/Department and summarize the responsibility band(before u have to do the adjustment in the setting as Alex suggested)you can see different colors aligned in the same line. It is a good presentation really to see same discipline people working at different locations as a single bar(with interruptions if applicable).
Cheers!!!

Sorry guys, I think I put my question wrongly again. My requirement is to show a specific colour for each code "value" on a summarized bar. Suppose the summarized bar consists of activities of only one code "value", then it shows only one colour in the summarized bar. Suppose my summarized bar consists of activities with two different code values, then my summarized bar should show two colours, one for each code "value".
Once again sorry for not stressing about code "value" in the previous mail.

Hi Rajeev
You are trying to create a line of balance.
See previous I Would suggest you have a look at software on the market. Example Chainlink etc.
Chainlink does have a 30 Day Trail Download and is intergradable with P3.

Three different colors in one summary bar. It is not possible in P3.
For such colorfull reporting I would use Excel.

I think it cannot be done in that way to a summary bar - individual bar yes but not summary bar. Like you cannot assign 2 value to a single activity
Please verify

Hi,
You also can display the activity codes in grouping bands.
Go to Organize > Options. Mark the following checkbox for bar area:
1) Display group divider as bands
2) Text as value + description
Activity codes with the description will appear in a band at gantt chart area.
Regards.

The only way to display anything in summary bars is to set up display individual bars
To do that
Format - Summary Bar - Individual Bars
However, I would never use that format because it is very messy
Try to use organise to display your group coding is a lot more tidy

Very Similar steps
Format - Bar
Modify Button
Label Tap
"+"
Location of your project code "Left, Right Center"
Then
Select your code
And Size of the font

Thank you for your help, Alex & Bill.
I know how to assign patterns to "individual" bars, according to codes, what I need to know is how we can show codes on a "summarized" bar.
or pardon me if I am not understanding your answers correctly.
cheers

Rajeev
Thats how you do it with patterns display according to the activity code value
Select Format - Bar
in the lower left hand coner you will see a button call Pattern Select that it will open another windows
In the new windows you can select the activity code you want to assoicate with the patterns
then you can assign the actual code value to a particular patterns
This is a smart way to assign the patterns to a code value
Cheers
