Revised Program of Work

On the other hand keeping activities no longer within the scope of work as well as leaving the original logic in place is not best practice:

  • Keeping activities no longer within the scope of work can be confusing and misleading. Changed conditions might require hundreds of activities to be deleted and can create chaos if not deleted on revised schedule.
  • Keeping activities no longer within the scope of work can distort cost loading if you if you miss to delete some cost assignments.
  • Keeping activities no longer within the scope of work can lead to wrong schedule logic when there are still some active links to activities that no longer exists, mere change in activity duration do not tackle this issue.
  • If you keep activities no longer within the scope of work project statistics such as number of activities and other ratios will become meaningless.
  • Activities no longer within the scope of work mean schedule baseline is changed and shall not include deleted activities.
  • Schedule model shall be able to display deleted activities among compared versions.

In a nutshell: activities with progress shall be kept while activities no longer within the scope of work shall be deleted from the CPM model.

you can always just filter for in progress AND not started activities to see what is remaining

  • As long as you do not delete activities and submit the electronic file you will be submitting the full program.
  • You can reduce the number of activities with a filter.  I suggest filtering for activities that finish after a certain number of days before DD for a view somewhat before DD up to project finish.  Easy, no need to delete activities, keep full history, not prone to error, just a layout with a simple filter.  A filter that is easier than traditional lookahead.
  • You should also be able to control the timescale range to display after the DD - #days

Thank you all for your answers
I better submit the full program
The purpose was just to reduce the number of the activities to be easier to review.

Please be reminded that if you delete from your CPM all activities already finished it can happen that some relationships to the deleted activities may still have some remaining lag and the new model be in error.  Better keep finished activities and issue a report to show only activities after DD or any selected date.

Schedule showing all activities:

01-remaining-lag 02-remaining-lag

The same schedule with some activities deleted might be wrong:

03-remaining-lag

whats the difference what is done is done

if you do NOT have the previous actvites in the schedule then at the end you will not have a fully as-built schedule you will have bits and pieces. What if the schedule gets delayed to a virus and it stretchs out to 8 months ?
