you can do that but 1st you must update the actual start date if the activity has just started. If the activity is already in progress you can simply update the activity % complete or the duration % complete both will updated the remaining duration/
Instead of Duration (%), why cant we use the Activity (%) column which will easier for the team member to filled in, and while importing it P6 will automatically calculate the remaining duration.

Yes, Primavera P6 automatically computes the Remaining Duration from the Duration % complete or vice versa. But since P6 will not read columns with an (*) it will not read in the Duration % Complete(%) values. We therefore need to provide the Remaining Duration(d) column data.
Removing the (*) from the column header does not change the fact that P6 does not import Duration % Complete(%) values.

1. this depeneds on your percent % type setting for each activity. If you have your % complete type set to duration and if put in a duration % complete in the status tab then the remaining duration will be automatically calculated for you. ie orginal duration 10 days you staus the % complete as 50% then the remaining duration is 5 days.
2. NO thats the whole point of the (*) it tells you what you can not import. The only way around is is to use SDK and that only works for version 8.4 and under.
1. In the report it is specified that, in addition to the duration %, remaining duration also to be filled in. In my understanding, for duration% progress type, based on the duration%, the remaining duration will be changed automatically, or vice versa.
In that case, the filled in duration% by the team member will be changed based on the required remaining duration, or it should be a physical% progress type.
2. If we remove the (*) from the column heading, it will be read by P6?
