Use the New Window command on the view ribbon, select both projects on a Gantt chart view
Add predecessor link by clicking on 1st task, clicking on second task then using link icon
Beware
File names cant change or file server locations, this means its hard to maintain. There are better more sophisticated ways to do this but above is the "out of the box" method.
Recommendation
Use Milestones in each schedule, avoid anything other than a FS +0 link. Get PM or project 2 to drive the process, ensure the milestone is scoped clearly.
Open one project and using the subproject button open a second project at the bottom of the first project. Select the task to make the link between. Save the projects and close them. Version 2010
