Link Tracking

Hi there;

If you are monitoring a project with a P3 schedule which was submitted to client and got approval.You are not allowed to change any of the activities Predecessor / Successor links..If you think that it is required then you have to inform the client.This is what I think.

On the other hand; you can compare or follow any of the schedule by Primaplan software...

You could download and test the evaluation copy...

Hi Vishwas,

As long as the contractual completion dates are not affected, the change of links could be allowed in the schedule update or else updating of programme would be meaningless if you want to maintain or simply follow the logic/links as detailed in the aproved baseline schedule for your monthly/weekly schedule update would sometimes give misleading completion dates. But proper documentation of changing links etc., could be found useful at later stage i.e., if you experience any delay in contractual completion dates you can submit the updated schedule if appropriate, to get approval and after the approval that schedule can be used as revised baseline program.

In the market some software programmes are available like SA Pro, Claim Digger etc, for tracking the changes in the activities................

For the first question, if you want to project the completion dates without any change in planned working sequence, change any link is not required.

If only comparing the as-built with the planned, change in link is not required (I think).

However, if you want to do some forecast based on what been happened and experience, activity may be re-sequence before scheduling.

there is some off-shelf products available in market, like Claim Digger, etc (There are some discussions in other posts)

The software that I use to compare logic is P3.

Contractualy you will need to resubmit your schedule to the client for approval highligting the changes and get him to agree it.

Well Maybe Stuart have other views.
