there are several converters one from primavera and one from Smatworks the one from smart works you convert from a MPP to a PPR then from a PPR to a MPX.
THe guaranteed way to import from any microsoft forget all other convertion link bullshit.
First import msp into excel......
second import msp into primavera whatever version
the import to primavera will usually not come out nice from the second step. so export from primavera back to excel then import back to primavera. you shd be fine.
last when you have done this. u need to create a new eps and import wbs only into these new eps. then finally import the first excel import from msp into this and sort under appropriate wbs..........
Thanks for your conversion link. the problem i am having is after converting to Mpx using your link and moving onto the process of importing to MSP. I get these two error codes (IEECF-3519-9 PRMDB-0423-C ). when i check P6 V7 which is wat i use i find the project with the WBS with no activities.

A big thanks to Arnold that file converter worked perfectly. I had tried a couple of other converters previously with no success so you have just solved a huge problem for me.
This is really late but it might do some good to to other people having the same problem.
I was getting the same error code and at the same time Microsoft Project was opening for some unknown reason.
What was happening was that I had the decimal delimiter set to "," which causes some kind of conflic with MSP, when I changed it to "." I no longer got the error message and was able to export freely.
In order to change the delimiter go to Control Panel->regional settings
For restoration ms project files there is a microsoft project recovery. The program is able to start under any Windows OS. The utility can show the results of recovery as a table. It doesn't change source project data during repair.
Maybe you can help me The Client want a program in MSP so I because I do not have MSP on my machine I export it from P6.7 as an XML file and open this XML file in MSP. However we noticed that the progress (actual start / finish and remaining durations) do not show. Is there something we do wrong? Is there a setting in MSP required.
Your help will be appricated as I have place this question in the forum about two weeks ago and to date had no replies.
Thanking you in advance

MS Project 2007 and 2010 simply are not compatible with Primavera PM6, whatever Windows OS you are using; that's why the MPP file format is available when you do have MSP 2003 installed instead of MSP 2007 or 2010.
You may export MSP projects as XML files and import these XML files into Primavera PM6.

I have checked out the mpptompx file Arnold said but somehow its not working.. it does some process (i think) but no progress bar and the file i was trying to convert is still an mpp and it havent created mpx file at all. btw, i am receiving this event code "CWRBC-1016-7" with this type "EOleSysError" and description "Call was rejected by callee" with the following detail.
Thanks for the reply, I got rhe problem fixed. I am running Windows Vista Ultimate, P6 v7.0 and microsoft Project 2007. I have a virtual box where windows XP is installed, what I did was Ive installed MS Project 2003 on the virtual box. And guess what, when I got back to VIsta-P6 v7.0, the mpp selection in import feature is already available.

Hi RJ,
You need to convert first your MPP to MPX otherwise, you cannot import.
If you dont have the Converter, follow the link below:
http://www.projectstatus.com/pub/
and look for MppToMpx.exe
