P3is already dead, investing time in already obsolete software is looking for trouble for yourself and your company.

If you recommend me an obsolete software just to find in the middle of a job that it is no longer supported, that no new licenses are available, that it is not compatible with Windows 7 64 bit I would send you to the lions.

Interesting to note that this document has since been updated in April 2010. The document I referred to, was dated January 2010 and that document stated clearly that sustaining support for P3 will end Dec 2011.

I trust this revision is not just a PR reaction on "bad publicity".

In any case we all know P3 will be dying a graceful death soon due to changes in technology like Windows 7.

Thanks for the reply

I stopped calling Primavera "support" after the first two tries back when it was called "Finest Hour" and operated via DOS. If you raised your question at one of their local "conferences" it was usually side-stepped with a push toward some new product that was coming out "soon" or someone taking down your number and promising to "call" you with an answer. I am still waiting for an answer from a question I asked in 1993.

Hi All

As Global Support Delivery Director for all Primavera products globally within Oracle, and having worked for Primavera for 15 years, I feel I am in a good position to explain the status of support delivery with regard to the P3 product line.

P3 sustaining support is indefinite and there are no plans to change that. This is a cast iron fact. This means P3 will continue to be supported by Primavera P3 engineers indefinitely. This means there is no end date in place and this service will not be stopping for the foreseeable future.

Please refer to the earlier publically available links that state this position clearly.

In addition, if anyone is getting information on the contrary from anyone at Oracle regarding P3 support delivery, then this is incorrect information. Please feel free to pass them my name and have them contact me and I can clarify the position to that person.

Also, if anyone is unhappy with the support being provided under their support contract, you are able to escalate directly (either call customer care or escalate on-line) any service request, and you will have a support manager call you back immediately to discuss your support request and discuss the issue in more detail.

Thanks all!

Indefinite; not clearly defined or determined; not precise or exact; or I will let you know latter about it being declared Obsolete.

Obsolescence is the state of being which occurs when an object, service or practice is no longer wanted even though it may still be in good working order. Obsolescence frequently occurs because a replacement has become available that is superior in one or more aspects.

Mike,

P3 is already obsolete, accept it. Better save 4K for each license of P6 and get an IT person to install the software on each machine as well as to apply upgrades. Otherwise you might have a Proctectomy and be saved from such cancer. I do not use P3 nor P6 so I do not have such an issue, but recommend the Proctectomy to all P3 users, just preventive medicine.

Tony I don’t know where you get your info, but I just go off the phone with Oracle’s main support rep and he said P3 support would end this year... not like it matters since the support sucks anyway.

Oh yeah and after paying a coulpe thousand dollars for the program they want you to pay a few hundred more if you want any support using it. What a joke! Oracle should be sued.

P3 does not have support... if you don’t already know it then good luck figuring it out. I have asked simple questions on tons of forums and I never get replies.

According to the documentation from Oracle’s website, sustaining support for P3 Project Planner 3.x ends December 2011. Does this mean there will be no support for P3 after that date?
