Dear Rafeal,

Thanks for reply, i thnk i can elaborate a bit, Like i defined a Activity Code as "Priority" & when i work on DBF file & assign values(1,2,3..) & want to import in P3 then it create problem of empty Space bcauz of right alignment of number on DBF file. I have tried to format the number as text, aligning left, triming the column, but all these not working & when i save & reopen the file its still in same format on DBF( not with simple xls).

This sort of Data if i am able to import even then on Activity code Clumn it starts with 2-3 Blank spaces

Atif:

By left clicking the mouse and moving the cursor on the screen over the sentence I selected the following from your posting … “I got problem in importing the Dbf file in P3. Sometimes I defined some value in Activity Id for my reference….” then by right clicking and selecting copy I could paste it into this posting.

This I have done with tables on the screen and with reports in Primavera SureTrak with success, from a Gantt table on the screen I frequently copy and paste data into Excel, but you are not limited to Excel. I believe Mike Testro does this frequently to copy and paste data from Asta Power Project into Lotus 123, if not wrong he even does it in the other way.

If it still creates some problems due to some issues with the field separator character you can try copying and pasting from a Layout Table that shows your required columns.

About your importing problem might it be that your activities ID’s have some “space” characters you cannot see but are there? Try checking with a left aligned format, blank spaces to the left will show.

Best regards,

Rafael

i ahve tried that on Earned value report & lil problem with that,

Right i know i am facing another problem

I got problem in importing the Dbf file in P3. Sometimes i defined some value in Activity Id for my refence & when i want to Import the value thru dbf it create a kind of digit alignment problem

when i fix it & align it left or make it text to import it in P3 & close the file & when i reopen its in same format( i.e Number & aligned right) so that create problem in importing as it take maximum 9 digits space in P3 to be imported, I hope you understand my question

I no longer have P3 but maybe just by copying and pasting your P3 report into an excel worksheet can do it.

Not sure if can be done but belive it can be done.
