What are the chances I could get a job in New York? I know its a long shot for some asian guy like me. But I would be glad to know or if you could hook me up with an application...That would really be awesome.
I am just 29 years old and filipino.

Dubai is in a real bad shape too. This is because its not an oil producing or industrialized place. the rest of middle-east and most of Europe are doing fine.
i hope you know what you are saying about US but i dont get good news from my friends. CNN & BBC are always talking of the great economic slump. Banks closing and businesses shedding jobs.
The unemployment index in US is touching the roof. i dont think its a good time for any foreigner to leave his job and cozy home and take the risk of going to the "land of Opportunity".
At lease i wont put my feet in hot waters

Dont belive the rumors, the U.S. is alive and well. Here in New York, there is plenty of work for good schedulers. I doubt that anyone here is looking to leave to go to the middle east for a job. Have you read about Dubai economy lately?
better think twice before you leave your job in Qatar and move to US. The economy is going down the drains and probably very soon, US professionals will be on the outlook for jobs in Europe of middle east
Im in the same situation as you are, jobs here mainly require that you are on an eligible to work status, and dont need sponsorship, experience in power stations and / or Oil & Gas is crucial,
feel free to communicate with me, maybe we can help each other
