Dear Mervilyne,

Oil and Gas is a special industry, and maybe you are working on the Contracting side. You will have to follow the news and check where are building new plants.

I have read that Kuwait will start a Plant in Indonesia for 8 billion in six months. So this is close to you. Find out the Contractor and apply to them, I am sure that they will need a couple of thousand people for 4-6 years at least.

With kind regards,

Hi Guys,

I belived in Planning there is same procedures. However, resources, activities, methodology, and processes differs.

I work in Manufacturing in the Philippines, Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing & Instrumentation, High Rise and currently in Landscaping in UAE with the same designation as Planning & Cost Control Engineer.

Up to now I cant get a job in Oil and Gas field, I wanted to go to University to have atleast background. Unfortunately, I cant afford the fees.

Can anyone suggest how to get a Job in Oil & Gas.

Do you know Companies who give training as in On-the-job-training, or Part Time works even without pay?

Your comments will be highly appreciated.

Thanks,

Sorry Mike,

I canät accept your statement of Artemis as a crap. It depends how you customise it. I have been using Artemis for 5 years with manz eventful success. And I found the latest planning software, whichever thez are, is just posed for graphical presentation. For instance, the latest version of P3 V6 or V 6.1 is a trouble maker rather than friendly user. I dont know, why the P3 genius have changed the duration into hours. Have they got anz reason behind it.In fact P3 V3.1 works better that the latest vesion though has many functions.

Thanks guys, for you keen and eagerness to learn about the O&G Construction Planning Training. Apparently, I am so much tied-up with my job and hardly have time to present such training. Anyway, this training, not very special indeed, but it will be more than a clue to be a best practiced planning engineering rather than keyboarding planner.

Dear All,

To operate Artemis 7000, you need a Artemis programmer and this person can be Planning Manager as well. We were using this software for many years. It can be customised in many ways to suit client requirement. It gives fantastic ’S’ curve and manpower Histo and data accuracy to 10 decimal points. Thus, it depends how good is your programmer.

Thanks

Hi,

Last year there was a PP conference somewhere in Europe. Maybe you can give the course at the event next time it is held.

Hi Nagandran

Artemis 7000 was the first piece of software that I bought back in 87 and it was a poor copy of the old P3.

I switched as soon as PowerProject arrived on the market.

Artemis lost out because it was crap software.

Best regards

Dear Nagandran,

at the beginning of this discussion you wrote

"Nobody around the global do so...I guess."

I guess makes the difference.

You did not attend all training courses around the Globe.

You don’t know all software packages.

So please add I guess to your statements.

Best Regards,

Dear all,

I believe many of us have attended Planning software courses, and have they ever taught about live project? Never and they wont as they dont know how to teach that, as they only know the technical part of the software. In reality, most of this software doesn’t help us apart from scheduling. In term of producing ’S’ Curve (surpise curve) they are zero!!!!!!!

There is only one software that I would say the best of all i.e ’Artemis...7000’. Where this software is not being used nowadays due to operating cost. Pity!!!!!!!

Dear all,

Planning in Oil and Gas Industry is an emerging profession and quite rewarding In some event most of the planners are not appreciated or rewarding the effort they make for the success of a project. Why this could be? Think about it. Absolutely the is no blame culture here, but indeed it’s our own defect. Defect? yeah, we never never sharpen our knowledge other than confining ourself in calculating and analysing ’figures’ where the other engineers calculating his promition in an organisation.

My philosophy is, today’s planners are future project managers if we are ready to prepare ourself for that.

Thanks for all your quiries. I will post you more details of the course very soon. The main problem that I am facing is, how we get together? ’Coz we are in various places and etc.
