You got a very good point. I use SureTrak where activity duration might be controlled by resources. This option can be set in Suretrak under Options/Default or at the individual resource level.
I never let the software change my activity durations and this is precisely one of the most important settings.
Unchecking Link remaining duration and percent complete should do it.
Regarding freze resource units per time this is another setting that what you propose is my preferred option but will have no effect on the relationship between remaining duration and percent complete.
Also check on the activity Types.
You are right in cecking all the settings to make shure they fit your needs, explore them all in a sample job, some are tricky and a few you can forget to set up that is why I sugested keeping a list of your settings the way you usually schedule your jobs in addition to make a template for your new jobs.
For constuction jobs I have my own, a few are not the software default, this make a huge difference.

Rafael

My only concern is why my current original durations change when I update progress (all activities) at a certain time, So I will do now is to uncheck Link remaining durations and check freeze resource units per time period. Is this corect?

If you still want to keep remaining duration and percent complete linked then you can update your schedule by updating remaining duration and letting the software compute the % complete. This I would not recommend it but it is your choice.

Keeping remaining duration and percent complete linked only creates confusion. If you want to keep right, Original Duration and % Complete, under TOOLS/OPTIONS/AUTOCOST RULES unlink the remaining duration and schedule percent complete as the physical percent complete of an activity might not be indicative of its remaining duration.
Then update your jobs using either the activity form or any appropriate table by updating true remaining duration and % complete as separate values.
I would suggest making a template for your future jobs with all your preferred settings, layouts, filters, reports .... Also keeping a list of your preferred settings would be handy.

Activity #1 in P1 has a 10 day Original Duration, starting Monday Aug 24; after one week, you update the project as follows: Activity #1 has started Tuesday Aug 25, is 40% complete
Key in these data and press F9 to reschedule the project with Data Date = Aug 30
Result is: AS = Aug 25, OD = 10, RD = 6, Pct = 40, Early Finish = Sep 07
I hope this small example will help you in finding your mistake

I am updating the schedule weekly a new baseline schedule on my first update many on-progress activities and completed activities change its original duration as compared to the target original duration , so the schedule % complete when it is scheduled is not consisitent in weekly basis because of the change of this durations.
Thanks

Hello Jun,
letss suppose the following project system:
a) the current project (P1)
b) the target (P2)
Activity #1 in P1 has a 10 day Original Duration, starting Monday Aug 24; after one week, you update the project as follows: Activity #1 has started Tuesday Aug 25, is 40% complete

Hello Pacifico,
can you be more specific: how are you updating your schedule weekly? please describe the process
Original Duration should never change, unless you key in another value
