Gracias por la bienvenida!

I have both P6 and P3, the project was made originally in P3 but then we got sub-contracted as lost labor productivity claimants. I started making the forensic schedule analysis but then when we tried to share files with the contractor, they could not read them because they still use P3. So, instead of having the contractor buy P6 licenses, the easiest solution was for me to migrate back to P3. Yeah, that’s my sad history.

Now I’m reviewing my files for assuring consistency between all project versions.

Regarding my first post, I changed the project finish and that dealt with the negative floats issue. Also, thanks for the PDF on global changing the durations, resulted in a good learning tool.

Carlos:

Compare your planning units and calendar details from both schedules. Transferring files from one version to another is tricky. If you no longer have access to P6 and have activity durations that do not make sense, just divide duration by 8 and see if now they make sense.

In reality I use Suretrak not P3, but we keep an old P3 license. I had some issues before when transferring from Suretrak to P3. Suretrak uses hours even when durations are shown in days. If you want to change the planning unit in P3 you must create a copy with the planning unit of your choice and then use global change with a formula for activity durations as durations will not be adjusted, predecessors or successor lag you will have to change manually.

Follow the link for a screen print of the global change definition to change hours to days.

I also had issues with holidays not being transferred.

Dear Carlos,

Welcome to the community.

As Rafael said, the "Project Start" and the "Project Must finish by" dates are found in the project overview.

Regarding the negative float. I can only say that garbage in = garbage out. Somewhere you made a mistake in the input. We are talking about durations and sequence. This is what you need to review.

With kind regards,

You can set project start date and must finish date at the Project Overview Dialog Box. You can get there in two ways.

If the project file is not opened you can click File/Open there select your job and click Overview button.

If the job is opened you can click File/Project Overview.

I might be moving from P3 to MS Project and having the same issues as you. Feels like back in kindergarten.

Bienvenido (welcome)
